Update: Travis Walton UFO incident witness Steve Pierce (Video)

Steve Pierce recently spoke with Open Minds and gave what he said would be his final interview. Since then, an outpouring of encouragement has come from his supporters and friends. Realizing how vital his story is, Steve has made the decision to continue to speak out about what he witnessed in 1975. The friendship between Travis Walton and Steve Pierce had been strained, but since the posting of the Open Minds interview with Pierce, the friendship is on the mend. In the interview, he expressed his fears of sleeping alone in the woods, but recently with the help of Travis, Steve has over come those fears and spent his first night alone in the woods since the incident. The two will also be teaming up this summer to speak at the 2012 Roswell UFO Festival.

In the years since the incident, the polygraph tests have been the crucial piece of evidence backing their story. The test and results are posted online, but not a lot of attention has been given to them. Pierce recently brought these documents into the light again, in hopes of suppressing the skeptics and presenting solid evidence for the events of that night. Travis Walton has also come forward to speak with Open Minds regarding the documents and the exams too. The documents clearly lay out the questions asked, along with the examiners conclusion that: “These polygraph examinations prove that these five men did see some object that they believe to be a UFO and that Travis Walton was not injured or murdered by any of these men, on that Wednesday (5 November 1975).” He also shared some words of encouragement for Pierce, and how speaking out will be a positive thing for him. The tenacity that these men display in sticking to the truth rivals most. Their trials have been daunting, yet they press on, adhering to their stories through the crowd of skeptics.

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU GO “HMMM”: NASA GIVEN SPY SATELLITES

Here’s one that sort of “snuck under the radar”, and it raises all sorts of interesting speculations and questions:
US satellite spy agency donates telescopes to NASA
Now, when I read this, I thought, “Whoa….!” For one thing, the use of high resolution spy satellites has an obvious purpose, to spy on other nations, on their bases, constructions, activities, and, one would assume, with the advent of Radar Tomography, what they’re doing to a certain depth beneath the ground as well. Now, in the past, we’ve been told by various internet sources, that these satellites would not have much use for space purposes, say, in photographing…well, the Moon for example, or Mars, etc. Now, granted, the telescopes are on the ground, and the article states there are no cameras, and so on. Sure…the NRO always launches telescopes to peer into other people’s business, but, woops, forgets to put a camera on board, or broadcast equipment to send pictures to the earth.
Maybe that’s true, and maybe it isn’t, but the donation of these satellites to NASA suggests that the NRO may have been surveilling more than Moscow or Beijing, and that indeed, the NRO may have been snooping on other things altogether. A secret space program, so to speak.
Now what also caught my eye was that the NRO no longer “needed” these spy satellites with their implied “space” capabilities, and that NASA doesn’t have the money to launch them. As for the first implication, perhaps it indicates that something else has been put into place, and that the NRO may be busily engaging in taking pictures of our nearby neighbors.
In any case, it is an interesting tidbit of information, and one, yet again, that suggests strongly that there is more going on in space than meets the eye, and that someone, at least, is watching it closely.
See you on the flip side.

“They” Are Watching…

As I noted here just recently, I have had several curious experiences that seem to suggest - quite strongly at times – I have been the subject of some degree of official surveillance as a result of my UFO pursuits – directly or indirectly. And much of that very same surveillance appears to have been in the form of telephone-based monitoring and interference.
This is not exactly surprising, since I do a lot of research (and interviews with witnesses) via the phone. But, just in case you think this is all simply a case of me – and only me – getting overly paranoid and seeing the sinister Men in Black just about here, there and everywhere, it’s worth noting I’m far from alone when it comes experiencing, or commenting upon, such matters.

On September 3, 1999, author (of the acclaimed Project Beta), researcher, radio host and good friend Greg Bishop stated the following in an email exchange with Jim Keith – an author of numerous books on UFOs and conspiracy theories who died, under circumstances that some still see as highly suspicious, only four days after he and Greg exchanged emails:
“I turned on my computer about mid week last week (the last week of August, 1999) and found that all of my article and work in progress files had been deleted. Luckily, I had backed them up. What was weird was the fact that the articles were not only ‘trashed,’ but were also deleted from the trash AND erased from he trash sector of the hard drive, making them unrecoverable. This takes a few steps of which I would have most likely been aware, and certainly don’t remember, if indeed I was the culprit. There are a few possibilities: I was hacked through the modem, I was given a virus that only affects my article folder and no other Word files, or someone broke in the house and deleted them. I guess I’ll believe the story that makes me feel best.”

And this odd and slightly unsettling affair was far from being a singular event, as Greg astutely noted when he referred to yet another curious series of circumstances in which he found himself well and truly immersed:
“Mail tampering is the darling of clinical paranoids, but nearly every piece of mail that the late researcher/abductee Karla Turner sent to [my] PO Box looked like it had been tampered with or opened. Since this is easy to do without having to be obvious, we figured someone was interested in her work enough to make it clear that she was being monitored. She took to putting a piece of transparent tape over the flap and writing ‘sealed by sender’ on it.”
Greg continued with the story: ”Karla pretty much took it for granted after awhile, and suggested I do likewise. The same mail problems later cropped up with a cattle mutilation researcher. Our postal and even e-mail exchanges were often a marvel of missed and misrouted communications. He recently suggested that we back off our discussions for awhile for reasons he would not talk about. Then there were the endless hang-up calls. ‘*69′ never worked with any of them. These came in sometimes five to ten times (or more) a day. If we picked up the receiver, there was static or silence.”
And Greg has still more to say on this matter of official, secret attention by, well, someone. This time, it’s with regard to Greg’s self-published magazine of the 1990s, The Excluded Middle, that sought to uncover the many and varied intricacies of the UFO puzzle and a whole range of conspiracies and secrets:
“Is a silly little UFO zine worth any attention? Well, maybe. Just think of all the wasted effort and money that our government puts out to justify a salary or political peccadillo. With unlimited cash flow plus idle hands and an intel operative’s pet paranoia in charge, we begin to see why this might not be so far-fetched.”
Indeed, it might not. And, I cannot begin to tell you how many more friends and colleagues in Ufology - and also in Cryptozoology, for some very baffling reason – have experienced extremely similar things. I made mention of some of these additional events in my 2006 book, On the Trail of the Saucer Spies. Today, however, the number of stories I have in my personal possession – which have never, ever seen the light of day and which originate with numerous well known figures in Ufology - has reached ridiculous proportions.
Someone is watching us, the collective Fortean community. They most certainly have the means, the funding, the motivation and the technology to do so, and in a highly organized, secret and widespread fashion, too. The big, nagging question that remains is: Why…?

Baltic Sea ‘UFO’ Mystery Deepens With Dive

By Belinda McCallum

A strange object spotted during a sonar survey last year continues to baffle Swedish treasure hunters who have now dived the site.
The Ocean X Team normally look for shipwrecks in search of historic artifacts and antique wines, but decided to investigate their discovery, which some believe to be a UFO, more closely.
Located at a depth of around 85 meters (280 feet) in the Baltic Sea between Sweden and Finland, the rounded object is about 60 meters (195 feet) in diameter.

It is actually mushroom-shaped with the rounded part raised about 3 to 4 meters (10 to 13 feet) above the seabed. Leading to the object is a downhill trail more than 300 meters (328 yards) long which the divers described as a runway.
An egg-shaped hole at the top of the disc appears to be some sort of opening. Nearby are strange stone circle formations that look rather like small fireplaces and appear to be covered in soot.
“During my 20-year diving career, including 6,000 dives, I have never seen anything like this,” said team member Stefan Hogeborn in a statement. “Normally stones don’t burn.”
“I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions.”
According to the divers, the object has rounded sides and rugged edges.
“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else,” said Peter Lindberg, co-founder Ocean X Team, in the statement. “And since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea the find becomes even stranger.”
“As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver.”
The divers took samples which are now being examined by scientists, alongside expert analysis of sonar imagery to ascertain what the object might be.

Ufo Over Brazil (Video)

"UFO Investigation (Alien Real Contact) Brazil OVNI Case 2012/ Atlantic Ocean - OSNI Video - Black triangles are a class of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) with certain common features which have reportedly been observed from the 1940s to the present. Media reports of black triangles originally came from the United States and United Kingdom, but phenomena consistent with these reports have been reported as exceptional occurrences throughout recorded history, using the language of the times.
Reports generally describe this class of UFOs as enormous, silent, black triangular objects, hovering or slowly cruising at low altitudes over cities and highways, usually at night and making no attempt to evade detection. These objects are often described as having "running lights", either bright white lights or pulsing colored lights that appear at each corner of the triangle."

Here is another video sighting that needs more information. All we know is that it was taken recently in Florida.
The video is quite short, and the object in question is seen only briefly. As a result of this, we have copied the segment with the object, and extended it by time so that our readers can get a good look.

What plans do we have for after aliens make contact?

By Esther Inglis-Arkell

What plans do we have for after aliens make contact?

What if aliens actually turn up and want to communicate with us? Everything would change. We'd all remember exactly where we were, the moment we found out that humanity really isn't alone. And then what?
What do we do next? More to the point, does anybody have any plan for what to do, after we find the aliens we've been wondering about for centuries?
People first started looking for aliens in the 1700s, when telescopes really started getting good. Many were so sure that life was out there, they believed it existed on all observable planets, moons — and even the sun.
As they analyzed the celestial objects around Earth more carefully, it became accepted that life was less common than everybody had thought. And as they began appreciating the space between the stars, they began to understand that searching out life was more of an undertaking than anyone had previously thought, that it might be impossible. But in the Space Age, when people started putting up telescopes and satellites that might see far enough and wide enough that they might find life wherever it is, the expectation returned that we'd find someone out there. And with it came the need to plan.

NASA summed up its only first contact-related plans in a simple report entitled Would Contact with Extraterrestrials Benefit or Harm Humanity? A Scenario Analysis.

Like any good science nerd report, it begins with categorization. There are three general types of contact that would require planning: beneficial, neutral, and harmful. For their purposes, "beneficial" means absolutely any contact that the human race came out okay from. This could range from merely noticing alien news broadcasts to being saved from falling into the sun by alien altruists to being able to quickly and efficiently deal with alien aggressors.
Neutral means finding aliens that are so different, or so bureaucratically tedious (and remember, these are government workers talking about tedium), that any contact with them wouldn't be worth the effort. Harmful could range from a space plague to them accidentally smooshing us beneath their flying saucers.
Responses to the first and second scenario are, respectively, are break out the champagne, and be disappointed. The third scenario isn't really a response so much as a warning. No one should send out detailed signals about the biology of humans, lest anyone send out biological weapons. We also want to be cautious about stepping into a galactic culture that we don't know much about. If we expand rapidly, and brag about our reach, we may either step on the toes (or the whatever-they-have) of a civilization we're contacting, or threaten a civilization that we haven't detected, but that happens to be allied with a civilization that we're contacting. Don't give anyone a reason to send out a first strike.
Well, that's not much of a plan. In fact, no government has official plans for what to do about contact with alien life. This oversight was criticized at a recent meeting of the Royal Society in London — many of whose members are a little worried that some government somewhere might fly off the handle and respond to alien first contact, bringing doom upon us all. They want any alien contact to be reported to, and voted on, by the United Nations. This is one decision we have to make as a planet.
But what about private organizations? SETI is the only such organization that has a plan in place for any contact with alien life. In fact, they have a whole Post Detection Taskgroup, which has to be the only taskforce on the planet which produces minutes that anyone might want to read. Not surprisingly, the first point of the protocol involves going to SETI for confirmation. To be fair, they do have the set-up for it. And it would be embarrassing if it were, say, a local radio station being mistaken for alien signals. After that, it would be okay to go to the United Nations and the International Astronomical Union, and they would organize a massive press conference, at which the discoverer would announce preliminary findings. While the data used to confirm the discovery would be released, the coordinates would be kept secret until the United Nations could gather information on the broadcaster and decide whether or not to respond.
More importantly, though, what's your plan? What would you do if someone announced intelligent alien life tomorrow? Go to church? Cry? Stockpile food supplies for the riots? Save up your precious germs and bacteria to use as biological weapons against invaders? Or would you try to hack into SETI's system to find out the coordinates, build a radio signal, and try to be the first person to talk back to the alien civilization?

“Alien language” presented by CIA & Disney

By Robbie Graham

Nordic aliens in Disney's Race to Witch Mountain (2009).

One of the most eyebrow-raising cases of government involvement in a Hollywood UFO movie in recent years is that of Race to Witch Mountain (2009), which apparently received extensive support from the CIA – albeit in an ‘off the books’ capacity – despite its plot drawing extensively from UFO mythology (with references both to Area 51 and Roswell) and its presentation of a sinister government UFO cover-up.

In 2010, the film's director, Andy Fickman – a self-described “UFO enthusiast” born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico – told me that, although he personally shaped the majority of the film’s UFO-related content, at least some of it was the result of CIA input. The director claims that, in a highly unusual production arrangement, he and his crew were closely assisted by an active employee of the CIA whose advice extended to designing the alien writing seen in the flying saucer during the film’s climactic scenes.
Race to Wicth Mountain: inside the flying saucer.
Despite my best efforts, Fickman has been unwilling to reveal to me the identity of his CIA advisor, but claims he’s a former Air Force Technical Intelligence Officer, that he had been “very active in Hollywood,” and “had a lot of connections in the computer world and [experience in] satellite imagery.” Fickman said of his CIA advisor:
All of the on-camera alien language in terms of their spaceship and everything – that was all designed by him in the sense [of what] the mathematics of communication would be, so you know... there would be a similar mathematical equation that the government probably has if they were to ever come across an alien race. So a lot of the things we ended up using were things he was bringing to me... and the next thing you know, that’s what I had on screen.

The alien “language” to which Fickman refers appears onscreen in Race to Witch Mountain in the form of holographic symbols aboard the Nordic aliens’ flying saucer. Some are simple, some are more elaborate. Presented below are three of the most frequently recurring symbols that appear in the climactic scenes of the movie...

The question, of course, is what do these symbols mean? Besides them bearing a passing resemblance to certain crop formations (the authenticity of which is debatable), it is difficult to ascribe any significance to them beyond the fact that they were designed by an alleged CIA operative.

Has the CIA, in cooperation with Disney, presented us with real alien symbols / language? If so, to what conceivable end? In all likelihood, the symbols mean nothing, but it would be remiss of me not to throw them out there for feedback. Your comments are welcome.

More information on CIA involvement in Race to Witch Mountain can be found in my article UFOs and Disney: Behind the Magic Kingdom.

This video was dubbed "UFO Amazing Star Family Contact." There is little information given except that it was taken in Colorado on June 9, 2012.
The video itself is somewhat puzzling. You can hear some comments on the original video, which is very shaky, yet some of the close-ups are quite clear and stable.
For what it's worth, the footage is interesting. We have edited the original for content. You can see the full length file at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYwHwJylJiY.
