U.K. Manual publisher releasing UFO investigation manual

A popular British manual publisher is releasing a manual on UFO investigations that covers government documents, how to go UFO spotting, scientific findings, alien abduction stories, and theories on the nature of the phenomenon.

The manual’s title is UFO Investigation Manual: UFO investigations from 1892 to the present day. Its author is long time UFO researchers and writer Nigel Watson. He has written other books on popular UFO events in the UK and alien abduction.

Nigel Watson, author of UFO Investigation Manual:
UFO investigations from 1892 to the present day.

Haynes is best known for their car manuals, although they have been exploring popular culture topics lately, such as surviving zombie attacks, and guides to popular spacecraft from science fiction. In a recent interview with Yahoo! News, Watson says there is plenty of information for the UFO manual, especially given the thousands of sightings and alien encounters investigated by the British Ministry of Defence.
Watson says UFO sightings are frequent in the UK, with “Warminster, Wiltshire, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, Bonnybridge, Scotland, Pembrokeshire, Wales and the Pennines are just some of their favourite haunting areas.”

Some of the advice in the book offers tips on how to see a UFO. Watson recommends one bring long, “A good set of binoculars, camera, note book and star charts are the basic equipment.” He adds, “Some ufologists use more sophisticated UFO hunting equipment that includes video cameras that can obtain infrared images of UFOs invisible to the human eye.”
Watson doesn’t believe people need to fear UFOs, he says, “There are some rare cases of people being zapped by lights from UFOs, but otherwise they don’t present any danger.”
The manual includes alien abduction stories, which Watson says he finds the most fascinating, although he says, “As with most aspects of ufology it is hard to find totally convincing evidence and that is why the subject still intrigues me.”
Most sightings are probably not extraterrestrial, Watson concludes, but they may present a “rare aerial phenomena unknown to science”.
The UFO manual is being released on November 7, and can be found at Amazon, or at the Haynes website.

In September 2013, Rorrey spoke about his sister’s fascination with UFOs to the Daily Star. He stated, “She really believes there are UFOs. No one knows for sure, but Ri and I definitely think they’re out there. It kept us occupied as kids.” The Daily Star also reported in September that Rihanna is allegedly paying a skywatcher in Nevada to provide her with UFO updates.

UFO 'Close Encounter' in Michigan ?

Published on 28 Oct 2013 By Research4truth12

Hello, I live in a rural part of Michigan. The closest major city is Port Huron. I saw this object near my home on the night of Oct 27, 2013. So, I followed it down a public dirt road. Then it turned so I had to turn onto a private unmarked road which is probably used for farm equipment to tend to the adjacent field crop.

At that point, I was running out of road to go any further. So, I got out of vehicle to take a better view of it. Then, suddenly, the object started moving towards me. It startled me so I ran like hell for a little bit. It was making a very strange low swirling noise...so, please try and turn up your speaker volume to hear it better.

Once I moved a distance back, I zoomed out the camera a bit more and noticed the object was hovering directly over my vehicle. Then it started to lower itself as it slowly rotated directly over my roof! At that point, it appeared to be shining a very bright green beam over it. Then suddenly, it shot straight up into the sky and the swirling sound disappeared at the exact time it vanished. This was a very eerie experience and even my hair was standing on end through the entire time and felt as if there was highly dense static electricity in the air!

What the heck do you think this is people?? This thing scared the bejesus out of me!

Thanks,
Bob

P.S.
For the debunkers that come on here and type "FAKE" without doing any in-depth analysis or proof of evidence that it's a fake just tells me that they're prejudging the video before even watching it.

Also, if they were sitting in my shoes at that time and experienced what I saw, they wouldn't be saying fake either. The video doesn't do this sighting any justice as the light intensity and the sound that came from the object was intense. Even my hair was standing on end at the time.

Bob

Dallas author investigates connection between JFK assassination and UFOs

Dallas author Nick Redfern

Was John F. Kennedy assassinated because he was on the verge of telling the public the truth about UFOs? Dallas-area author and strangeness researcher Nick Redfern says, true or not, the belief is fairly widespread in the UFO investigation community. (He would know, Redfern has written 28 books on a wide variety of unsolved mysteries, including Monster Files, The Real Men in Black and Celebrity Secrets.) I asked Redfern to summarize the curious theory for us as JFK 50 approaches.

Per Redfern:

“One of the major areas of controversy surrounding the JFK assassination of November 22, 1963 is that which suggests a link between the tragic event and the subject of (wait for it…) UFOs. Was JFK whacked to prevent him from revealing the truth about flying saucers? Guy Banister (portrayed in Oliver Stone’s JFK movie by Ed Asner) was someone that New Orleans district-attorney, Jim Garrison, suspected was involved in a plot to kill Kennedy. As an FBI agent in 1947, Banister investigated numerous UFO sightings for J. Edgar Hoover and received a classified briefing on the subject in July 1947.
Fred Crisman was a man who also came under the scrutiny of Garrison, and someone who was identified as one of three “hoboes” detained after JFK’s death. Crisman had an intelligence-based background and claimed to have handled UFO debris in the 1940s. CIA asset Clay Shaw (played by Tommy Lee Jones in JFK and another one of Garrison’s targets) had connections to Crisman. Colonel Philip Corso, of the U.S. Army, claimed to have handled UFO wreckage recovered at Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. At the time of his death in 1998, Corso was working on a book titled The Day after Dallas, which, claimed Corso, would finally reveal the truth about JFK’s death…”

Why aliens won't look like Flipper: The science of extraterrestrial tales

Lots of aliens will be hitting the streets this Halloween. There'll be big-headed, beady-eyed grays ... pointy-eared Starfleet officers ... reptiles with mouths that bristle with fangs ... fur-faced wookiees and more.
But you hardly ever see depictions of extraterrestrials that live underwater — and there's a good reason for that, says Don Lincoln, author of a new book titled "Alien Universe: Extraterrestrial Life in Our Minds and in the Cosmos."
The reason? It's hard to build a fire underwater.
Some experts speculate that many of the habitable planets in our galaxy are water worlds, with no land in sight. But those wouldn't the best places for technologically advanced civilizations to take root.

Fermilab
Fermilab physicist Don Lincoln is the author of "Alien Universe."

"There could be alien cavemen underwater," Lincoln, a physicist at Fermilab in Illinois, told NBC News. "But truly, you can't smelt metal." And that means it's unlikely that intelligent dolphins will ever develop the technology for spaceflight.
In "Alien Universe," Lincoln blends together a compendium of alien tales going back to H.G. Wells and even earlier, plus a look at the scientific parameters that define the search space for intelligent aliens.
The book isn't aimed at veteran UFO fans looking for the latest revelations about the alien conspiracy. It doesn't address the search for microbial life on Mars, or Europa, or Enceladus — and it doesn't delve deeply into the search for planets beyond our solar system. Instead, "Alien Universe" is meant for those who wonder how all the stories about intelligent aliens got their start, as well as those who wonder how much science is behind those stories.
"It's not just fiction. It's not just pretend," Lincoln said. "There's some real scientific thinking going on."

Image: Alien Universe
JHU Press
"Alien Universe" looks at the fiction and the facts about the prospects for extraterrestrial life.

The chemistry of alien lifeFor example, there's a reason why all life on Earth is carbon-based, and why alien life is likely to be based on carbon as well. Carbon atoms can handle four chemical bonds (unlike a puny single-bonding hydrogen atom), and yet it's relatively easy to swap those bonds around (unlike, say, silicon-based chemistry ... sorry, Horta!).
There are also chemical reasons why water works so well as a solvent for life's processes, but it's possible to imagine other liquids serving a similar role. Methane, for example, could have some advantages over water — and liquid methane exists in abundance on Titan, a smog-shrouded moon of Saturn.
"This leads us to speculate that if life is an inevitable outcome of chemistry, then Titan should have at least primitive life," Lincoln writes. "If it turns out not to have life, then we must begin to suspect that there is something unique about the environment of Earth, perhaps including the use of water as a solvent."
The sociology of alien tales
Lincoln makes a distinction between primitive forms of life, which may well turn out to be common in the universe, and advanced forms of life that could head out from their home planets and contact us. In the book, he refers to those life forms as Aliens with an capital "A." Those types of Aliens are the main focus of "Alien Universe," as well as thousands if not millions of books and movies about extraterrestrials.
Surveys suggest that most Americans think such aliens have already visited Earth, and are behind at least some of the UFO sightings that have been reported over the past few decades. Today, the 1947 Roswell UFO Incident looms large on the list of UFO tales — but Lincoln said that story didn't make much of an impression when it happened.  "The Roswell saucer disappeared from history," Lincoln said. "It only reappeared in the 1970s when the National Enquirer reran the report from the Roswell Daily Record."
He said the interest in UFOs actually got more of a boost from other tales in the 1950s and '60s, such as George Adamski's stories of flying saucers and Betty and Barney Hill's account of an alien abduction. Such accounts triggered a long string of Hollywood productions, ranging from "The Day the Earth Stood Still" to "Men in Black." And such movies, in turn, make the public more receptive to UFO stories.
"There's a loop between the stories, the media and Hollywood — they feed each other," Lincoln said.
That kind of alien appeal is what drove Lincoln to write the book in the first place. He's a particle physicist, not an astrophysicist — but his interest in the prospects for intelligent life beyond Earth began long before his interest in the Large Hadron Collider. "Aliens are something that absolutely fascinated me when I was a kid," he said.

"We now know how to travel to the stars. The Air Force has just given us a contract to take ET back home." - Ben Rich, former Head of Lockheed Skunkworks.

As a Senior Research Engineer Boyd Bushman worked for Lockheed Martin, Texas Instruments and Hughes Aircraft. He is regarded as one of the inventors of the Stinger missile and he speaks on Camera about Area 51 and advanced propulsion systems being tested there.

As a Senior Research Scientist at Lockheed Martin - Boyd Bushman reveals that Defense Contractor - Lockheed Martin has researched antigravity technology, specifically gravity manipulation by means of magnetic fields, and he shows that he experimented at Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth, Texas facilities, proving that magnetic fields affect the gravitational field and because of that, bodies don't fall with the same acceleration, a result different from the classical experiments made by Galileo with no magnetic fields present.

Alien Life Experts Urge Creation Of Guidelines For Interacting With Extraterrestrials

By Miriam Kramer

Humanity should start thinking about how to interact with alien species long before coming into contact with extraterrestrial life, experts say.
Coming up with a strict set of guidelines that govern the way people on future interstellar space missions study and interact with aliens is imperative before anyone blasts off to a distant world, according to attendees at Starship Congress in August.

While a "prime directive" — the rule that prevented Star Fleet officers from interfering with the business of alien life-forms on TV's "Star Trek" — might be a little extreme, such a rule could help govern interactions between aliens and humans. [13 Ways to Contact Intelligent Alien Life]

"In the event that we discover evidence of intelligent life on another world, that will be a social, cultural and technologically influential event to human affairs which will need to be managed with great care and to ensure our culture and their culture remains intact and not disrupted by this new knowledge," Kelvin Long, the founder of Project Icarus, said during a panel on Aug. 16.

People traveling to distant stars will be carrying tangible and intangible aspects of human culture with them, so it should be curated responsibly before being sent to an alien planet, one expert said.

"I think it comes down to how we're going," Armen Papazian, the CEO of the International Space Development Hub, said. "Do we trust that this is a beautiful universe, an incredible cosmos? Do we really believe that it's an amazing landscape, it's a bed of stars? What do we think we're going out there to find and are we going to embrace it or are we going to utilize? Are we trying to export our scarcity economics or are we trying to enjoy the abundant cosmos? … Whatever we are here, we're going to export wherever we go."

It's possible that humans in the future will have no desire to land on exoplanets after free-roaming in space for years at a time, Icarus Interstellar president Richard Obousy said.
"I'm not convinced that when we have the capabilities to build starships … that we'll want to go from one gravitational abyss to another gravitational abyss," Obousy said. "I'm not convinced that settling on planets or even moons is going to be necessary."

Humans can't help but explore and interact with the world around them, Icarus Interstellar's James Benford said during the panel.

"We won't leave them alone," Benford said. "We would like to explore alien ecology extensively to understand if there are any interactions leading to incompatibilities. We would need to establish human research stations to do that because it's a complex problem. It seems unlikely that there would be interference between separately evolved ecologies, especially if we minimize contamination and wear the appropriate suits."

Les Johnson, of the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop, takes Benford's ideas a little further. Johnson and his group have developed three moral principles that he hopes will serve as a guide for any interactions with all kinds of extraterrestrial life:

  • Learn all you can learn before risking any kind of direct interaction
  • If it seems to be alive, leave it alone.
  • Avoid bringing samples to the home world because it might not be totally incompatible with our ecosystem.
When developing a strategy for first contact, it might also be important to think about the mental and physical well-being of the aliens with whom humans could come into contact, panel members stated.

Finding out that a more advanced civilization exists somewhere in the universe could be as jarring for humans around the globe as it was for native peoples when the conquistadors came to North America for the first time, Benford said.

"It wasn't just guns, disease and steel, it was the shock of finding out that you're not even No. 1, you're not even No. 3," Benford said. "That is a thing to really worry about."

In spite of all of these rules, it will be up to the people on the starship to ultimately enforce or do away with whatever rules were in place before they left the planet.

"A vibrant interstellar civilization will be essentially ungovernable, and that observing such guidelines will be strictly left up to each and every first contact team to obey or not obey at their discretion," Johnson said. "When someone is several light-years from home and they've encountered something they never encountered before, they're going to be making the decisions regardless of what the guiding moral principles might have been when they left home."

Popular British UFO author, Timothy Good, has a new book titled Earth: An Alien Enterprise: The Shocking Truth Behind the Greatest Cover-Up in Human History, coming out on November 13, 2013. It is about alleged extraterrestrial contacts dating back to 1932 from all over the world. Good's subject matter is highly controversial, even among people who follow the UFO topic. However, in the past, Good's books have shed light on some of the most credible and interesting UFO cases. He has also garnered the respect and attention of high-level officials in the UK. At a recent UFO conference in North Carolina we were able to talk to Good about his new book.

Peruvian Air Force to re-open UFO investigation department

Peruvian Air Force to re-open UFO investigation department

The Peruvian Air Force (FAP) has announced that it will re-activate their dormant UFO investigation department, known officially as the Office of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena Research (OIFAA).
The official announcement and re-launch ceremony will take place at an upcoming event held by the Peruvian Air Force’s Directorate of Aerospace Interests (DINAE). The event is being advertised as a meeting on anomalous aerial phenomena, and will feature a discussion on the Nazca lines and extraterrestrials. It is being held October 18, 2013 at the DINAE offices in Lima, Peru.

According to South American news website AIM, FAP Colonel Julio José Vucetich Abanto, director of DINAE, has been calling members of the press along with senior officials in the Peruvian Navy, Army, and national police, inviting them to attend the re-launch ceremony.
OIFAA was originally opened in 2001, but it went dormant around 2005. OIFAA’s founder, retired FAP Commander Julio Chamorro Flores, occasionally re-activated the department to investigate high profile UFO sightings. Flores will continue to head the department.

Andrea Perez, director of the Commission for the Study of the Phenomenon UFO in Argentina (CEFORA), told AIM that she speculated OIFAA was being re-activated to keep up with Argentina, Chile, and Ecuador, who have similar UFO departments. Although, she also says it could be due to recent UFO events, such as a popular sighting in La Molina and a recent sighting by officials in the jungle.
UFO researcher Scott Corrales posted information he had received from Peruvian colleges at his website Inexplicata: The Journal of Hispanic Ufology. They claim the FAP says the re-opening is due “in response to the significant increase in claims and reports on Anomalous Aerial Objects commonly referred to as Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) in the skies over Peruvian Territory.”
They also say that OIFAA will also be sponsored by Peru’s National Commission for Aerospace (CONIDA), and that OIFAA will be made up of civilian personnel.
Inexplicata also provides more information on what will be discussed at the upcoming UFO meeting. It says they will present OIFAA’s agenda for the next few months, and their first order of business, which is a presentation by Professor Manuel Aguirre of the School of Archaeology of the University of San Marcos titled The Nazca Lines and Extraterrestrial Beings.

Exposing the Cattle Mutilators

By Nick Redfern

This past weekend, I spoke at the Minneapolis-based Paradigm Symposium, on the subject of my new book, For Nobody’s Eyes Only. Also lecturing were Micah Hanks (on his latest title, The Ghost Rockets), David Weatherly (on his forthcoming book on the phenomenon of Tulpas – which, David was telling me, should be published around the end of the year), John Ward and Scott Roberts (who have a new release, The Exodus Reality), and numerous others, including Chris O’Brien.
For me, Chris’ presentation was the most significant of the 4-day event, and I’ll tell you why. But first, a bit of background. If you aren’t familiar with Chris’ work, then you really should be. He’s the author of a number of excellent books of a definitively Fortean nature , including Enter the Valley, The Mysterious Valley, Stalking the Tricksters, and Secrets of the Mysterious Valley. But, it’s the details of Chris’ forthcoming book that we’re focusing on right here, and which was also the subject of Chris’ lecture at the Paradigm Symposium.
There can be very few people that are interested in the many and varied mysteries of our world who aren’t aware of the phenomenon of “cattle mutilations,” as well as the wider phenomenon of animal-mutes. Typically, cattle are found with organs removed from their bodies, with precise cuts to the skin that strongly suggest the presence and use of very sharp instruments, and with their eyeballs, ears and tongues utterly gone.
But who is responsible? The skeptics claim it’s all the work of wild animals, such as wolves, coyotes, and even birds. Of course, some cases of animal mutilation are indeed due to misidentification. But, mistaken identity is only a small part of the overall puzzle.

wolves

Moving on, there’s the “satanic cult” theory, which may have some occasional relevancy to the puzzle – and particularly so in the UK, where more than a few such cases have been reported over the past few years. And, of course, there’s the angle of the mutilations being the work of nefarious extraterrestrials engaged in sinister and diabolical experimentation of the genetic kind. Certainly, within the field of UFO research, the alien theory is one that is widely championed – and has been for decades.

alien-bug

But, despite the fact that many believe the UFO theory to have merit (and who, deep down, probably want it to be the answer), there is another possibility. In fact, personally, I’d call it a downright probability. And here’s where we come to Chris O’Brien’s new book, Stalking the Herd: Unraveling the Cattle Mutilation Mystery – which will published towards the end of this year.
If you think the idea of extraterrestrials mutilating cattle is disturbing, then Stalking the Herd may give you absolute nightmares – but for a different reason. In fact, for a very different reason. Although certainly not ignoring the UFO angle, Chris’ lecture chiefly took the audience in an extremely different direction to that dominated by E.T. It was a direction that led to a domain filled with such issues as so-called “Mad Cow Disease,” its human equivalent of Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease, the disturbing and massive increase in Alzheimer’s (or presumed Alzheimer’s) in the United States in the last couple of decades, and deadly viruses.
In other words, Chris’ new book is one that suggests the real mutilators are not extraterrestrials or devotees of the Devil. Rather, they are definitively human in nature. The actions of the mutilators seem to suggest that, somewhere – probably deeply buried within the official infrastructure – there is a clandestine project whose staff are deeply worried that America is becoming more and more infected with CJD, with Variant CJD, and/or with something even worse – such as a mutated form of the original strain.
Might that explain why there has been an enormous rise in what is assumed to be dementia-driven conditions all across the United States? Yes, it may well. Such a theory may also explain the presence of black, unmarked helicopters in the vicinity of the mutilations. After all, what’s more likely: (a) that the crews of the infamous black helicopters are secretly observing the actions of extraterrestrial butchers; or (b) that the crews are the mutilators? I go with scenario “b.” If you don’t, you’re likely driven by a tedious Fox Mulder-style “I want to believe” mindset. It’s time to dump that and think outside the box.
It’s important to note that, while a theory is simply that - a theory – Chris has undertaken a huge amount of research into this particular area, and has uncovered a great deal of highly notable data and documentation that (a) connects mutilation sites to outbreaks of disease in animals; (b) reveals evidence of secret, decades-long, and large-scale monitoring of the cattle-herd; and (c) concerns the carnage and chaos that could result (and perhaps which is now resulting) if and when something worse than CJD jumps from species to species. That’s to say from cattle to us.

cattle

For anyone with an interest in the cattle mutilation conundrum, Chris’ book is not to be missed. Arguably, it’s going to be the most significant book on the subject – ever. And not just because of its contents and conclusions, but also as a result of its sheer scale and scope. As Chris told me (we shared a room at the Paradigm gig, so plenty of time was had talking about the book), Stalking the Herd will run at around 200,000 words and 500-pages.
Chris’ new book is very likely to ruffle feathers not just in the domain of Ufology, but within the world of officialdom too. And maybe (and hopefully) it will wake people up to the likelihood that while the cattle mutilation puzzle is a very real one, it has nothing to do with aliens – hostile, friendly or indifferent. It’s far, far worse…

Sightings of ufo's around Area 51 slow down due to U.S. government shutdown

‘The Maury Island Incident’ movie revisits UFO frenzy, rumors of a coverup

By

World War II had just ended and fear of the Russians was just beginning to ramp up. World War III seemed inevitable. Already, the world had seen no end of deadly, fantastical machinery deployed: Rockets, jets and nuclear bombs … just to name three.

Rumors (some of which had turned out to be horrifically true) sprang up throughout World War II. And afterwards, rumors swirled around even more fantastical machines like death-ray machines and weird civilizations launching attacks from space. The “Golden Age of Science Fiction” was well underway, and that era had brought even more fantastical ideas into the mainstream consciousness … including the famous invasion from space that had paralyzed millions of Americans: War of the Worlds.
So, when “unidentified flying objects” began consuming the public imagination in 1947 and reports of UFOs started pouring in, newspapers put those stories on their front pages. The FBI and mysterious secret agencies (ill-defined and suspiciously ubiquitous) stepped in to investigate, appearing in slick dark suits with stony silence and a menacing panache.
The fever had struck.
Right into the middle of it all came the Maury Island UFO incident. History Link writes:
On or after June 26, 1947, Harold Dahl and Fred Crissman report the explosion on June 21, 1947, of a giant doughnut-shaped “flying saucer” near Maury Island in Puget Sound. They make the report after another sighting makes national news on June 26, 1947. … Dahl reported observing six large “doughnut-shaped” vehicles … One appeared distressed and spewed chunks of debris that rained on Dahl’s boat, killing his dog and injuring his son. After taking shelter on the island, Dahl returned to Tacoma and showed the evidence to his employer, Fred Crissman.
Dahl also said that a mysterious “man dressed in a black suit” had menaced him and fogged his photographs of the incident.
That report would gain national attention and the publisher of a science fiction magazine would pay for an investigation. And then a B-25 airplane, supposedly carrying parts of the UFO, crashed on Aug. 1, 1947, en route from Tacoma to San Francisco, killing the two “U.S. Army specialists” on board, according to History Link.
Then Dahl began recanting his story (see clippings) but nothing he said or was reported by newspapers and U.S. Government officials could stop the spread of the story. Remember, also swirling around in the media at that time, was the soon to be much more famous Roswell UFO incident.
Sounds like the setting for movie?
And indeed it is/was: Enter writer/producer Steve Edmiston and director/producer Scott Schaefer and their soon-to-be released movie: “The Maury Island Incident.

The duo have just released their first trailer for the movie:

“The most exciting parts of the story to me are the true things that actually happened,” said Edmiston, ”all without having to decide if the UFOs were real: The first reported man in black, J. Edgar Hoover’s personal involvement, the Army’s investigation, the fatal B-25 crash over Kelso, and the fact that the facts were hidden in classified FBI documents. To me, the real story here is what happens to a man who tells the world an amazing story that no one believes and the government wants to bury.”
The two moviemakers received some money from the state to make the film. Here’s how Washington Filmworks reported on the project:
Washington Filmworks (WF) is pleased to announce that The Maury Island Incident, a short film chronicling a 1947 UFO sighting over the Puget Sound, has wrapped principal photography. From late June through early July, filming took place in Burien, Des Moines, Tukwila and the waters off of Maury Island. WF is proud to include The Maury Island Incident as part of the inaugural Innovation Cycle of the Filmworks Innovation Lab. The Lab is a groundbreaking new program offering funding assistance to Washington filmmakers and filmmakers using emerging technologies.
Why do a film on UFOs?
“Before working on ‘Bill Nye the Science Guy’ in the ’90s, I directed for a UFO-related TV show called ‘Sightings’ in Los Angeles,” said Schaefer. “I went in as a total skeptic but came out as a total non-skeptic, and that’s where I first learned about the Maury Island Incident. In June 2012, Edmiston invited me to a party to commemorate its June 21st anniversary. After listening to Steve’s excellent presentation about the case, I approached him about making a film. The rest is history, yet with a taste of local mystery…”

History UK’s website describes the new show Shaun Ryder on UFOs:
Join us as we follow Shaun Ryder of the Happy Mondays as he embarks on an extra-terrestrial adventure, taking him from the mountains of Chile to the fields and forests of England.
Convinced from an early age that UFOs exist after spotting one in the sky above his house in Salford, Shaun sets off on a quest to find out the truth. Along the way he scans more than just the sky, speaking to experts and witnesses, academics and abductees, sceptics and believers in an attempt to get to the bottom of their stories and separate fact from fantasy.
One of the UFO researchers Ryder meets on this quest is Open Minds contributing writer Antonio Huneeus, as seen in the teaser video below:

Following his investigation for the upcoming four-part series, Ryder is convinced that people have been abducted by UFOs. According to Digital Spy, it was meeting alleged abductee Travis Walton that convinced him.

Ryder explained, “I believe Travis was abducted absolutely . . . Travis looked like he had post-traumatic stress or had just walked out of a Vietnam battlefield. He looked grey and it really affected him.”
Ryder’s investigations also convinced him that governments are concealing information about UFOs and extraterrestrials. He said, “Governments are definitely hiding stuff. I mean I know they are. It’s a fact. I think it’s because they really think they are doing us a favor.”
Shaun Ryder on UFOs premieres Sunday, November 10 on History UK.

Mac's UFO News second birthday at the end of November

As many of you know Mac's UFO News will be two years old at the end of November and work is ongoing for the Volume II Video.  Volume II, as with Volume I for 2012 will include all footage for UFO sightings covered by the site for 2013.  I'm also pleased to say that I have managed to produce more episodes than last year.

The very idea behind the site has & always will be to help witnesses feel less alone & to provide information on the phenomena.  To that end this year has seen the inclusion of the members forum.  It still has few members but to date Mac's UFO News has been visited by 162 countries; so with luck & effort this should pick up in time.

Here's a reminder of the sites mission statement, and another look at Volume I from last year.
My best wishes to you all:

Mac's UFO News covers recent ufological events, sightings, article's, documentary's, pod casts, web casts, video specials & exopolitical events from around the globe. I produce a monthly news video highlighting some of the more important cases and news story's.

Citizen Hearing On Disclosure Update

Congressional Initiative DVD & Blu-ray Campaign

Published on 17 Oct 2013 By CitizenHearing

The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure was a great success. We brought 40 researchers and military/agency/political witnesses to the National Press Club in Washington to testify for 30 hours over 5 days before 6 former members of the U. S. Congress regarding events and evidence for extraterrestrial related phenomena since 1947.

We will now take the CHD to Capitol Hill. With your help DVD and Blu-Ray sets of the CHD are being produced and on track to finish production later this year. At that time a copy of these DVDs will be sent to each member of the House and Senate. That's 535 box sets, 10 disc for each set. This initiative will be accompanied by a public campaign to encourage Congress to review the CHD testimony and meet with lobbyist Stephen Bassett to discuss the immediate need for hearings for scores of witnesses ready to testify under oath.

For more information on how to get involved, please visit http://www.citizenhearing.com/chdcamp...

Army Helicopter's UFO Scare Still A Mystery, 40 Years Later

Artist illustration of a cigar-shaped UFO, hovering over an Army helicopter and a four-man crew on Oct. 18, 1973. | Explorer1x / YouTube

Forty years ago today, a four-man crew of an Army Reserve helicopter was flying over Mansfield, Ohio, around 11:00 p.m. when they "encountered a near midair collision with an unidentified flying object," according to the official report, signed and submitted by the crew after the incident.
A full explanation for this terrifying UFO close encounter has never been offered, and to this day, the helicopter-UFO incident remains one of the most credible -- and terrifying -- in the history of the subject.
The commander of the helicopter, Maj. Larry Coyne, and his crew, thought at first that the light on the horizon was a radio tower beacon.
"We were flying along at about 2,500 feet when the crew chief on the helicopter observed a red light on the east horizon. He then informed me that the light was closing on the helicopter -- that it was coming at us on a collision course," Coyne told this reporter in 1975.
"I looked to the right and observed that the object became bigger and the light became brighter, and I began to descend the helicopter toward the ground, to get out of the collision course path. We were descending and this object was like a missile locked onto the helicopter, only it came at us on a perpendicular angle, to hit us almost broadside.
"It looked like we were going to collide with it and we braced for impact, and then I heard the crewmen in the back say, 'Look up!' and I observed this craft stopped directly in front of us -- stopped -- it was hovering, right over the helicopter!" (See main story illustration above)
Watch this video excerpt of the Coyne account from a documentary report. The story continues after the video.

With the unknown object hovering in the air above the helicopter, Coyne and his crew suddenly noticed a light coming out of the aft end of it -- a light that swung 90 degrees and came into their cabin.
"It was a bright green light. And all of the red night lights that we utilize for night navigation were dissolved in this green light -- the whole cabin turned green. It hit all of us directly in the face."
Coyne and his crew knew they were encountering something extraordinary.
"We assumed it was a high-performance fighter, but when it stopped directly in front of us, then all four of us realized that was no high-performance aircraft. This craft, from the angle that we saw it, was cigar-shaped. It had no wings, no vertical or horizontal stabilizer, was approximately 60 feet long, 15-20 feet in height."
What occurred next was like something out of science fiction.
"We were at 1,700 feet," Coyne recalled. "Then this craft began to move slowly to the west away from us. At this time, I was worried we were going to hit the ground, and I looked at my altimeter and our helicopter was at 3,500 feet, climbing 1,000 feet a minute with no changes in the control. We went from 1,700 feet to 3,500 feet in a matter of seconds and never knew it!"
The helicopter topped out at 3,800 feet and the four men felt a bump, "like turbulence, at which time we had control of the aircraft again. I had control and we went back down to 2,500 feet and then continued on to Cleveland," Coyne said.
"As far as the vehicle itself, there's no doubt in our minds what it looked like. A craft that can move at terrific speeds in excess of 1,000 knots, and then stop on a dime, maintains altitude, can change altitude, climb, descend. To encounter a UFO when it approaches your aircraft, you have no idea what it is. I think if it wanted to collide with us, it could have. You can't get away from it -- you don't have that much time to respond!"
Lending credibility to this case were eyewitnesses on the ground who observed the UFO-helicopter encounter. The Army didn't prevent Coyne and his crew from speaking out about their experience. In fact, Coyne was allowed to recount the UFO incident to the United Nations in 1978, as seen below, under the sponsorship of Grenada.

This 1973 UFO incident, while certainly dramatic and terrifying for the helicopter crew involved, is not the only time that conventional aircraft have had encounters with unknown objects.
Many crew members of major airlines have witnessed unusual objects near their aircraft but have been reluctant to tell their stories publicly.
In 1999, Richard Haines, a retired senior research scientist for the NASA-Ames Research Center in California, created the National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena, or NARCAP, to give pilots and air traffic controllers a confidential place to report their own unusual sightings of what Haines refers to as unidentified aerial phenomena, or UAP.
"We have two objectives: To make flying safer with regard to unidentified and poorly understood phenomena in the atmosphere. And the second objective is to collect, analyze and then report high quality data from the aerospace world on the phenomena, to help us understand them better," Haines, 76, told The Huffington Post.
According to Haines, on an average daily basis, since the creation of NARCAP, he's received six to 12 reports a year. He absolutely believes there are real dangerous or safety issues that come up between pilots and some UAP.
"Based upon analysis of past cases, a potential for a very serious event does exist," Haines said. "We have reviewed a great many encounters in flight where several things can happen. One of them is an electromagnetic effect in close proximity to the phenomenon, where cockpit instrumentation are affected -- it might be a magnetic field, radio interference or even an inertial effect, and that's obviously unsafe. Pilots don't want to be flying airplanes where they can't trust their instruments."
Another area of concern that Haines and his colleagues have found is similar to what Coyne and his helicopter crew experienced in 1973.
"It's where a UAP is near the airplane, perhaps ahead of the plane, and the pilot makes a rapid emergency dive to avoid a perceived collision. That's not very common, but it would have to be reported. It has happened in the past and there are still near-misses that occur which sometimes are associated with a nearby UAP."
Haines has always been impressed with the Coyne helicopter incident.
"It qualifies as a genuine UAP encounter. Multiple witness cases are very important and should command the attention of aviation officials. In the Coyne case, its color, speed and apparent shape -- those are all important physical characteristics that can be related to other pilot sightings.
"I think the Coyne case ranks very, very high in credibility. One reason is Coyne's reputation as a good pilot before this happened. And his courage -- the fact that he was willing to come forward with this very bizarre story and to stand by it says an awful lot. And he would give encouragement to other pilots to do the same.
"If everybody remains silent, we're never going to get to the bottom of this."

MIB: Alive And Kicking

By Nick Redfern

This past weekend, I lectured at the Philadelphia-based conference of the Pennsylvania chapter of MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network. It was an excellent gig, thanks to organizer John Ventre and the team. The presenters included MUFON member Fred Saluga, who spoke about the UFO-Cryptozoology connection, and Bill Weber, who detailed a very intriguing radar-visual-based UFO event. Tom Carey shared with the audience his findings on the Roswell affair, while Bill Birnes and Pat Uskert entertained everyone with a behind-the-scenes look at their TV show, UFO Hunters.
Travis Walton discussed his book Fire in the Sky and John Ventre asked the thought-provoking questions regarding UFOs: “Do you know? Should you know?” Antonio Paris dug deep into 21st Century Ufology, Anthony Sanchez shared his findings on the “Dulce Underground Alien Base” saga, Jon Maberry gave an excellent presentation on UFOs and pop-culture, and Richard Lang focused on UFO methodology. And then there was me.
John Ventre asked me if I would deliver a presentation based around my book, The Real Men in Black, which I was cool with. As is always the case when I lecture on the subject of the MIB, I always make it very clear that the real Men in Black are actually nothing like their on-screen versions portrayed by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Rather, the real-world MIB are very creepy, weird, sickly-looking creatures that look part-zombie, part-vampire and part-anemic.

men-in-black-illustration

Not only that, and as I also pointed out in my lecture, whereas most people assume the MIB only ever target and terrorize people in Ufology, that’s very far from the truth. As I told the audience, there have been MIB encounters at Loch Ness, Scotland, involving cryptozoologists and eye-witnesses to the monsters of the loch.
I have several cases on file where people using Ouija-boards received visits of the MIB kind. There are demonic parallels. There is the time-travel theory to explain the MIB and their weird antics. And there are even Women in Black – a subject on which, right now, I’m writing a full-length book.
In other words, the MIB puzzle is a wide and varied one that extends far outside of the confines of Ufology. Well, as is usually the case when I do a lecture, write a book, or take part in a radio-show, people contact me to ask questions or to make observations. They also, very often, share personal stories. And, with regard to the latter, that was most certainly the case regarding the Men in Black.

men-in-black-team

I know from speaking to people – and this goes for both witnesses and the UFO research community – that there is often an assumption that the Men in Black are something of the past, something that revolved around the likes of Albert Bender’s MIB-based experiences of the early 1950s and the Men in Black links to the Mothman affair of the 1960s. But, that’s very far from being accurate. Indeed, the MIB have never really gone away at all. Rather, they are simply extremely good at hiding under the radar.
But, for those dark-suited visitors, there is one fatal flaw in their sinister and covert activity. It’s when their cover is blown and the witnesses decide to come clean and reveal their experiences – even in the wake of chilling, MIB intimidation. And that’s exactly what happened over the course of the weekend – both before and after my lecture on the MIB. I’m used to getting MIB reports on a regular basis, but at the MUFON gig the reports came tumbling out.
And guess what? While one or two of the reports could certainly have been the result of visits from – or surveillance by – people at an official level, the majority of the 15 or so accounts I received were of the classic Men in Black type. That’s to say the pale-faced, scrawny, staring-eyed, Fedora-hat-wearing kind. And almost all of them dated from as late as the last decade or so.
There were two cases involving old-style black cars of a type that would have been right at home in some old B&W gangster movie of the 1950s. And to my amazement, I got no less than three accounts of the Women in Black variety. Interestingly, of the testimony provided to me, two of the witnesses described MIB confrontations that utterly lacked any UFO links whatsoever, but that revolved around the domain of the occult.

men-in-black-cctv

Collectively, this tells me several important things: (a) the MIB have not gone away; (b) they haven’t even bothered to upgrade, or change, their modus operandi or fashion sense (or lack of it); (c) they are as curiously out of time as they always have been; and (d) they are still keeping careful and clandestine watch on matters of a paranormal nature that extend far beyond the mystery of UFOs.
We may be no closer to really knowing who or what the MIB are, or from where they originate, but they are still out there, still knocking on doors late at night, and still provoking fear and dread whenever they appear.
