City Action Destroys Thousands of Historic UFO Audio Recordings

By Ryan Dube

ufo audio video clearinghouse

In July of 2011, the city of Calimesa, CA destroyed one of the largest single video and audio UFO collections in the world in a single afternoon. The destruction took place by a team of guys wearing anti-bacterial suits and face masks.
No, this isn’t a scene from some science fiction movie – this event really happened at a small house in Calimesa. Sherry, the woman that lived at the house, was found passed-away in the house on Tuesday. By Friday, the city had hired Ecology Control Industries (ECI) to clean out the house.
Apparently, the condition of the house created such a health hazard – Sherry had owned a number of cats – that the crew had to wear white anti-bacterial suits and face masks over their mouth and nose.
While this is something that you’d expect to see whenever a city needs to take care of a house that has become a health hazard in a community, the twist in this story is that stored in the garage was a lifetime collection of audio and video tapes and documents covering the subject of Ufology. The house was formerly owned by both Sherry and her former boyfriend – David Aaron.
If you don’t recognize the name – David Aaron was well known, particularly in the 1990s, as the owner of a massive collection of amateur video and interviews covering UFOs called the “UFO video clearinghouse.” He gave a talk for MUFON titled “UFO Videos From Around The World”, and in 1994 he was quoted in a Time Magazine article about Harvard psychiatrist John Mack (1).
The collection that was stored in the garage – directly in the path of the ECI trash removal crew – was David Aaron’s own collection, encompassing years of research, work and archiving. He has said that his collection that he started in 1986, included audio and video dated from 1947 up through 2005. Within hours, David Aaron’s collection would be lost forever, but not without a fight.
David Aaron Loses the UFO Audio-Video Clearinghouse Collection
In 2010, Don Ecker of Dark Matters Radio interviewed David Aaron. Don is also another fixture of the “old guard” of Ufology – the young researchers of the 60′s through the 80′s that are now quite a bit older, but no less interested in the subject of UFOs.
Prior to the interview, Don introduced David on his blog as follows:
“When it came to the UFO subject and television and radio if Dave did not have it in his stockpile…it wasn’t available anywhere! He was The One Stop Shop for everything UFO.”
This month, Dave has been sending out emails to all of his contacts throughout the UFO community, alerting them to his tragic loss.
“On a Monday in July 2011, I received a phone call from my former girlfriend stating that she was going to loose her home, this was my house. I moved to a much larger house, and would move items into my new home, as time permitted. We made arrangements to meet on Friday to remove all the VERY RARE UFO AUDIOTAPES out of the garage where they were stored, without any incident for many years. When I arrived at the house, men in white anti-bacterial suits covered the area. One of my neighbors ran up to me and told me that ‘Sherry’ my girlfriend was found dead on Tuesday. I was in a state of semi shock.”
At this point, David’s story turns dark, as he describes starting to videotape the scene as one of the ECI workers in a white anti-bacterial suit told him that he would go get his gun and shoot him if David didn’t leave.
David went straight to the Calimesa Police Department and reported the situation – begging them to save the thousands of rare UFO tapes that were being thrown into the trash.
The Calimesa police refused him to help – referring him to the City. Unfortunately, Dave’s hands were tied – City Hall was closed already, and would be closed for the weekend.
David returned to the home, ignoring the earlier threat, and started to take photos of the men at work removing furniture, boxes and trash from the house.

From the vantage point where David began taking his photos of the situation, you can see the ECI trash unit on the roadside, furniture and boxes piled outside the house, and a certain amount of trash loaded inside the large trailer.
The scene almost looks as though there is a sorting process taking place – with trash going into the trailer, furniture going in a pile, and then other assorted piles across the front lawn.
You almost have to wonder if some of those boxes included pieces of David’s collection. As the men disappeared back into the house, David ran to the trailer unit to capture a few shots of the pile inside of it.

ufo audio video clearinghouse

David explained in his emails that the collection he lost included over 1,200 rare UFO radio program recordings, many of which you probably can’t find anywhere else in the world anymore, including:
(1) A 1947 interview of Walt Whitmore interviewing Mac Brazel about the Roswell event.
(2) A 1958 recording of Major Donald Keyhole on CBS Radio interviewed on the subject of UFOs for the Air Force. The recording included the point in the show when Air Force Officers inside the studio forced producers to turn off his microphone.
(3) A rare 1960 TV interview of Barney & Betty Hill on Louis Lomax KTTV.
(4) A collection of NICAP on-scene interviews and investigations on reel-to-reel audiotape, donated to David by Richard Hall of NICAP.
These examples are only the tip of the iceberg. Like or hate modern Ufology, anyone has to lament the loss of so much documented history.
All of my attempts to contact ECI for information on where the items removed from the house were taken were unsuccessful at the time of the publication of this article.

Follow-up Interview With David Aaron

I contacted David Aaron directly to obtain more details about this event. It is no secret that there’s no love lost between myself and many of the old-guard Ufologists out there.
The manner in which most jump to the assumption that the NSA, CIA or some other alphabet-soup agency is involved in a massive cover-up of UFO information is unsupported by evidence. In fact, in his email, David started to imply that somehow the CIA or NSA was involved in the cover-up of this particular story – rather than the more likely reason that most mainstream journalists just have no interest in Ufology.

However, given the extent of this loss – and the sheer volume of history in the form of audio and video that was lost in this incident, it is very difficult not to feel bad for David. He has lost his life’s work. Even worse, the field of Ufology has lost a virtual library of historical data that can never be recovered. That is a big loss for any investigator that’s truly interested in the truth.
Ryan: David, you listed a few prime examples of some things that were in the collection, are you able to estimate a rough total of how much content (audio/video/writings) there were in total?
David: Ryan, no email can tell you the entire story of the UFO Audio Video Clearing House. The letters from the State Department, the FBI, all destroyed as well. The exact content is only an approximation, there were around 1,400 UFO audiotapes, all the old NICAP newsletters going back to 1956, what members ordered, a computer list of where each UFO report or video or audiotape was located.
Ryan: I was a bit surprised to see you mentioned the NICAP investigations were included in the collection. Were you in charge of maintaining those interviews, and do they represent the entire NICAP archive of all of their investigations?
David: I was only a member of NICAP years ago, and the Late Richard Hall just loaned me the masters to put on audio cassette I mailed back the originals reel to reel NICAP TAPES OF WITNESSES back to him years ago. Mr. Hall was getting up in years, and wanted to make sure the NICAP audio files had a safe home for future generations.
David’s concern and paranoia regarding the whole scenario was that he had just talked to Sherry merely a day before the Coroner’s report says that she died. What had they talked about? Sherry had asked David to come and move the UFO collection out of the house because she couldn’t afford to keep the house anymore. One day later, she’s found dead.
My first call to the San Bernardino Coroner stated that Sherry Died of blunt force trauma, and that boxes fell on her head. Next, it was changed to a heart attack, and next it was changed to high blood pressure (Medication which she stopped taking 6 years ago after she changed her diet and stopped the salt intake.) When I asked for the Coroner’s report, they said it would take 8 months to get. I now have it, and it shows the cause of death as heart attack due to high blood pressure.
David concluded our brief interview by lamenting the loss of his collection, and how he was completely powerless to do anything to stop it.
“….then, when I was threatened to be shot, I had to take the photos. There is not much that I can prove, as you can see by the photos..everything related to my company was thrown in a dumpster and taken to hinterlands. I think they wanted the letters from the FBI and the State Department.
I was unable to locate whom purchased what, because all our sales books, computer floppy disks (Back ups) and all our records were also destroyed. Yes, a 69 year old man can cry after seeing so many years of history thrown in the trash, even though I had no power to stop them, and law enforcement could have cared less!”
While it isn’t much consolation, David stated that he does have most of the videotapes from his collection up on the Internet, but all of the thousands of rare audiotapes, and all of his records and documents are lost forever.

Open Minds Massive Update (Video's)

A look inside Issue 13 (April / May 2012) of Open Minds Magazine.

Cover Story: 2012: The Mayans and UFOs. Other stories include "Do Extraterrestrials live on the Moon?," "White House UFO Petitions," "The 2010 Official Chilean Government UFO Report," an interview with UFO reporter Lee Speigel, an interview with Kim Arnold, and many more stories.

In the whirlwind of the alleged Roswell incident cover up lies a secret set of government documents that compiles a 12-man list of our nations finest scientists, military leaders, and government officials. These men were allegedly authorized by President Truman to investigate the Roswell incident, and were called the Majestic 12. The report of the Majestic 12 lurks in the shadows of UFO accounts, and its story woven through a web of top-secret memos, highly classified meetings, and clandestine operations.

Don Most, best remembered as Ralph from Happy Days, notions himself as an amateur ufologist. He is partnering with TV producer Bryce Zabel and Bridget Healey to produce a film surrounding the mystery of the Majestic 12, and the people who research it. Currently in the development stage, they hope this film will bring to light the mystery that surrounds this top secret government group.

Open Minds sat down with Don and Bryce at the latest International UFO Congress and got the inside scoop to the upcoming project.

This is the UFO news segment from the 3/19/12 episode of Open Minds Radio.

Grant Cameron runs the site PresidentialUFO.com. However, we will not be talking about President and UFOs. Instead we will discuss Grant's amazing introduction to the field of Ufology. As a college student in Canada, Grant and his friends had a lot of idle time. Having heard about local UFO sightings, he and his friends decided to go check it out. This lead to an incredible adventure that caused Grant to dedicate much of his life to the study of UFOs. It is a great story about an ongoing mass UFO sighting that resulted in pictures and film. The UFO even got its own name, Charlie Redstar.

In this edition of the Open Minds Update, Maureen Elsberry discusses the El Bosque UFO captured on camera in Chile during a Chilean military air show as well as a solar flare that was mistaken as a refueling airship and explains the UFO captured in a rap video recently.

A look at how UFOs are presented by Hollywood and the mainstream media featuring interviews with Ben Hansen from SyFy's Fact or Faked, Lee Speigel from the Huffington Post, Don Most from Happy Days, Bryce Zabel, Richard Dolan, Jason McClellan from Open Minds and Don Schmitt.

Jordan Pease has been an important part of the International UFO Congress crew for over a decade. He also helped Steven Greer with the Disclosure Project and has started a metaphysical library. We will talk to Jordan about the IUFOC, what is was like to help the disclosure project in its infancy and what he thinks of the results. We will also talk about the unique library he helped start. This will be a great discussion on the evolution of the UFO phenomenon in the past couple of decades. For more information on the library visit: www.RVML.org.

WATCH: The stunning conclusion: the Chilean jets were being stalked by a UFO.

Leslie Kean

Is this the case UFO skeptics have been dreading?
Sightings of mysterious flying craft with capabilities unknown on Earth have confounded mankind throughout recorded history. Most have been convincingly explained away as unfamiliar aircraft, natural phenomena or illusions. But then there are the others, witnessed in our time by pilots and air traffic controllers, military leaders, scientists, law enforcement officers and other trained observers, sometimes with physical evidence, including corroboration on film and video.
"We don't know what they are," says Nick Pope, a former head of the official UFO office in Britain's Ministry of Defense. "But they do exist."
As agreed by authorities around the world, these truly unexplainable unidentified flying objects appear solid, metallic and luminous, able to operate with speeds and maneuvers that defy the laws of physics. And, most chilling of all, they often behave as if under intelligent control.
One such case has just come to light in Chile, and was presented by government officials for the first time at a press conference on March 13.
It was a glorious, sunny morning on Nov. 5, 2010, when crowds gathered to celebrate the changing of the Air Force Command at El Bosque Air Base in Santiago. From different locations, spectators aimed video cameras and cell phones at groups of acrobatic and fighter jets performing an air show overhead. Nobody saw anything amiss.
But afterward, an engineer from the adjacent Pillán aircraft factory noticed something bizarre while viewing his footage in slow motion. He turned it over to the government's well known Committee for the Study of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena, or CEFAA, for analysis.
WATCH: The stunning conclusion: the Chilean jets were being stalked by a UFO.

CEFAA was established in 1997, within the Department of Civil Aeronautics, the equivalent of our FAA. Its creation was sparked when aeronautic specialists and others reported multiple sightings of anomalous lights near Aeropuerto Chacalluta, an airport in Northern Chile, which were then reported in the press.
Gen. Ricardo Bermúdez, formerly chief commander of the Air Force's 3rd Air Brigade (southern area) and an air attaché in London, was one of CEFAA's founders, and he currently directs the agency with a full-time staff of three.

"Our mission is to study cases of unidentified aerial phenomena for which there is adequate data, to determine any possible risk to air operations," says Bermúdez. "Since this is a worldwide phenomenon, it should be subjected to rigorous scientific analysis so we can come to viable conclusions."

CEFAA officials were able to collect seven videos of the El Bosque UFO taken from different vantage points. Bermúdez commissioned scientists from many disciplines, aeronautical experts, and Air Force and Army Photogrametric technicians to subject the videos to intense scrutiny. They all came to the same conclusions.
Each video included three different, mainly horizontal loops flown by the UFO within seconds of each other. The object made elliptical passes either near or around each of three sets of performing jets. It flew past the Halcones, F-5s and F-16s at speeds so fast it was not noticed by the pilots or anyone on the ground below.

The F-5s

Images show it as a dome-shaped, flat-bottomed object with no visible means of propulsion. The rounded top reflects the sun and appears metallic; the bottom is darker and flat, emitting some form of energy which is visible in photo analysis. Infrared studies show the entire object is radiating heat, just like the jets.

2012-03-13-Screenshot20120313at4.07.18PM.png
Close up of the Halcones fly-by

This extraordinary machine was flying at velocities too high to be man-made. Scientists have estimated the speed, depending on the size of the object, to be at least 4000 - 6000 mph. Humans inside this object could not survive. And, somehow, it made no sonic boom, a noise similar to thunder which occurs whenever something exceeds the speed of sound (750 mph at sea level). The shock waves generated from an object at such high velocities would normally be enormous. But no known aircraft or drone could possibly fly this fast at such low altitudes anyway. Our fastest air-breathing jet, the SR-71, has a maximum speed of just over 2,000 mph, but that's at high altitudes.
And, the strange object is clearly operating under intelligent control. It zooms towards each set of jets at about their height, circles around and zooms back out again. Pilots who were shown the trajectory of the object in the three flybys were amazed that this maneuver is characteristic of reconnaissance aircraft coming in for a quick look at others in the sky.
Astronomer Luis Barrera from the Metropolitan University of Sciences in Chile, with an asteroid to his name, was one of eight highly skeptical scientists who analyzed the footage. He was able to rule out a meteoroid, pieces of meteors or comets, space junk, a bird or an airplane.
"The object performed a risky flight maneuver in front of the Halcones from W-E-W, at low altitude and high speed," Barrera concluded. "It had intentional movements. It moved East with 25 degrees inclination, which is the same angle of spacecraft when entering the atmosphere."
Alberto Vergara, an expert in digital imaging, reported that "when we examine the whole scene frame by frame, we have been able to realize that it has, apparently, moved at a speed far superior to any flying object of known manufacture."
Has Chile found proof of an actual UFO?

"At this time, this incident cannot be scientifically explained," Bermúdez wrote in a recent email. "As agreed by those who have studied the videos, we can affirm that there is an unidentified aerial object present. We do not know what it is or where it came from."

Chile is among a growing number of countries around the world that officially take UFOs seriously. Others include Brazil, Peru, Equador, Uruguay, Argentina, Belgium, France and Britain. The United States is not on the list.
In 1986, Brazil's entire defense system was put on alert while F5 and F103 jets were scrambled to intercept multiple UFOs. he acting Commander of the Brazilian Air Defense states in an official report that radar readings from both the Air Defense System and intercepting jets were recorded simultaneously while the pilots observed the objects through the cockpit window. The document says that the phenomena made sudden accelerations and decelerations, had an ability to hover, and moved at supersonic speeds.
In 1989-90, Belgium was repeatedly visited by UFOs. The Belgian Air Force actively responded by putting radar stations on alert and scrambling F-16s. A dedicated group of scientists made voluminous records of the sightings -- some from police officers and military personnel -- and conducted over 650 investigations.
"Hundreds of people saw a majestic triangular craft with a span of approximately 120 feet and powerful beaming spot lights, moving very slowly without making any significant noise but, in several cases, accelerating to very high speeds," says retired Major General Wilfried De Brouwer, Chief of the Operations Division in the Air Staff at the time, referring to the first night of the Belgian wave.
America's closest ally Britain had a "UFO Desk" within the Ministry of Defense from the 1950s until 2009, when the program was closed due to the overwhelming number of Freedom of Information requests clogging the system. But the MoD acknowledges that any "legitimate threats" -- cases involving military pilots, air defense installations or objects tracked on radar -- will still be properly investigated.
The French government agency studying unidentified aerial phenomena is part of the French National Space Agency, known as CNES, the equivalent of our NASA. This office has been in operation for thirty-five years with a focus on pure scientific research. It has amassed many compelling case studies, some involving landed UFOs affecting the immediate environment.
Former CNES Director General, Yves Sillard, who later became Assistant Secretary General for Scientific and Environmental Affairs at NATO, founded this agency, GEIPAN, in 1977 and remains engaged today. "The objective reality of unidentified aerial phenomena is no longer in doubt," he wrote in a recent essay. "The climate of suspicion and disinformation, not to mention derision, which still too often surrounds the collection of reports, illustrates a surprising form of intellectual blindness."
In contrast, the U.S. government wants nothing to do with UFOs. The Air Force once had an official, public investigative office, called Project Blue Book, in operation from the early 1950s until 1970 when the Air Force declared that UFOs were not national security threats and no longer warranted attention. Blue Book had been overwhelmed with reports, and was incapable of explaining the phenomenon. In 1953, a classified CIA report encouraged all branches of government to use the media to "debunk" and demystify UFOs as a means of dealing with something beyond their control. Some respected professional scientific organizations urged continuing scientific investigation despite the close of Blue Book, but ridicule and a lack of resources have made that all but impossible.
One example from many: Even though hundreds of citizens witnessed massive delta-shaped objects traveling silently over Arizona on March 13, 1997, the government ignored inquiries from state officials and never offered the public any explanation. This dismissal occurred despite a letter to the Air Force from Senator John McCain requesting an investigation, and a class action lawsuit, filed by witnesses, seeking information from the Department of Defense. Former Arizona governor Fife Symington acknowledged in 2007 that he too had witnessed this "craft of unknown origin" while in office, which he did not disclose at the time for fear of ridicule.

Incomprehensibly, pilots are ordered not to report sightings. The FAA Aeronautical Information Manual states that "persons wanting to report UFO/unexplained phenomena activity" should contact a civilian collection center, or, if the encounter is life-threatening, "report the activity to the local law enforcement department." By way of contrast, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Europe requires that such incidents be reported. And in Chile, CEFAA reporting forms are readily available at every commercial and military airport in the country.

Why this longstanding US government posture of willful ignorance and dismissal of UFOs? Major General Denis Letty of the high-level French UFO study group called COMETA pondered an answer: "I don't think a powerful country like America finds it acceptable to acknowledge that something strange can fly over and the country can't clear the skies of it. Another problem can be panic, created by people imagining that their military can't protect them."
Official investigators from around the world hope that scientific curiosity, and concerns about air safety, will eventually overcome the U.S. government stalemate. They recognize that UFOs provide a challenge to our current scientific paradigm, since the "extraterrestrial hypothesis" must be considered along with others. For this reason, a taboo against the topic remains fixed.
"Scientists should take the subject seriously. It is their moral duty to investigate something that somehow could affect -- one way or another -- the lives of many people around the world," Bermúdez says.
Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku, author of "Physics of the Impossible" and popularizer of science, believes that the small percentage of UFO cases with "evidence from multiple sources and multiple modes" cannot be dismissed.
"Scientists must stop giggling, and maybe we'll be able to learn more in the future," he says. "If another civilization is a thousand years, a million years, ahead of us, then new laws of physics open up. And a million years, on the scale of the universe, is nothing."

South Africa recommended for extraterrestrial research

IT News Africa – IT news, Telecom news and Mobile news from an African perspective

The rivalry between South Africa and Australia is reaching beyond the sportsfield into the extraterrestial these days. A scientific panel selected South Africa over Australia as the best site for the proposed Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Saturday.

Square Kilometre Array proposed drawings. (image: astronomynow.com)

The SKA’s Site Advisory Committee will oversee the enormous radio telescope, but it remains unclear where the radio telescope will go. The SKA radio telescopes costs around $2.1-billion, consisting of 3000 dishes.
The telescope will help scientists address questions surrounding the early universe. The telescope is reportedly so sensitive that it might pick up television signals from distant planets, which could uncover extraterrestrial intelligence.
The bidding war started in 2006, but since construction costs are lower and South Africa is at a higher altitude they came out top.
SKA board members are set to meet next Monday in Manchester, United Kingdom. The meeting will take the aforementioned scientific panel’s thumbs up to South Africa into account. However, both sides will have the chance to present any contestations. These will be added to the panel’s recommendation, before the final announcement is made.

Chelyabinsk UFOs Revisited: Compelling Video Sheds New Light on Russia’s Extraordinary UFOs

By

A new video reveals details of the extraordinary circular UFO–unidentified flying object–or strange phenomena that occurred over the skies of the Chelyabinsk, Russia, on December 23, 2011. The Chelyabinsk region, the January 23, 2012, sighting of a mysterious white donut-shaped object by residents of the South Ural village of Ashirov. The sighting investigated by a Russian news agency.

[Photo-Image: January 23, 2012, Strange morphing 'light' witnessed by residents of Southern Ural village of Ashirov]

For more details on the Ural UFO, the link to Russia X-Files: Reporters, Cops Discover Dead Hares After Witnessing Mystery Light.
The new video, a report from Mexico’s noted Ufologist Jaime Maussan on the white sphere or circular shaped UFO–an object that looked as if it was surrounded by a cloud–with a noticeable whitish object in the middle, a UFO in the skies above the Chelyabinsk region for ‘more than four hours”. The unidentified flying object/strange phenomena captured in 20 videos.
Maussan: “They just released the 20th video from Cheliabinsk, one of the amazing sightings ever, that happened on December 23 in that Russian city. It’s on the center of Russia. It’s a clear demonstration of this presence and they are openly manifesting. Twenty videos, the object flew for more that four hours. Amazing. Cheliabinsk, a city that suffered three nuclear catastrophes that were ignored by the West in the times of the USSR.”
Jaime Maussan Cheliabinsk UFO Video

Maussan’s right, there were three unreported nuclear catastrophes in the Cheliabinsk region during the Communist Russia regime that were ignored by the West.
Info from the fascinating, well-worth-your-time to read article Chelyabinsk, Russia, the Most Contaminated Spot on the Planet:
[Snip]
In the late 1940?s, about 80 kilometers north of the city of Chelyabinsk, an atomic weapons complex called “Mayak” was built. Its existence has only recently been acknowledged by Russian officials, though, in fact, the complex, bordered to the west by the Ural Mountains, and to the north by Siberia, was the goal of Gary Powers’s surveillance flight in May of 1960.
The people of the area have suffered no less than three nuclear disasters: For over six years, the Mayak complex systematically dumped radioactive waste into the Techa River, the only source of water for the 24 villages which lined its banks. The four largest of those villages were never evacuated, and only recently have the authorities revealed to the population why they strung barbed wire along the banks of the river some 35 years ago.Russian doctors who study radiation sickness in the area estimate that those living along the Techa River received an average of four times more radiation than the Chernobyl victims.
In 1957, the area suffered its next calamity when the cooling system of a radioactive waste containment unit malfunctioned and exploded. The explosion spewed some 20 million curies of radioactivity into the atmosphere. About two million curies spread throughout the region, exposing 270,000 people to as much radiation as the Chernobyl victims.Less than half of one percent of these people were evacuated, and some of those only after years had passed.
The third disaster came ten years later. The Mayak complex had been using Lake Karachay as a dumping basin for its radioactive waste since 1951.In 1967, a drought reduced the water level of the lake, and gale-force winds spread the radioactive dust throughout twenty-five thousand square kilometers, further irradiating 436,000 people with five million curies, approximately the same as at Hiroshima.

Best picture ever of UFO was taken over Perthshire.. but Government officials shredded it, claims expert

By The Daily Record

A FORMER Government UFO investigator has revealed how officials shredded the most compelling evidence for aliens that he has ever seen.
Nick Pope claimed a photograph of a metallic spacecraft in the sky over Calvine in Perthshire mysteriously disappeared after the Ministry of Defence got their hands on it.
He added: “This was easily the most compelling UFO photo I’ve ever seen in my life.
“It went to the technical specialists at the Defence Intelligence Staff and elsewhere. Their results of the analysis were that this was a real thing – it wasn’t a faked photo.”
Pope, who ran the Government’s UFO project from 1991 to 1994, said he had the image in his office but it was removed and later disappeared.
He said that when he challenged officials about the photo, they claimed there was no record of it.
Speaking about the spacecraft onBBC Radio Scotland’s Tales of the Unexplained, Pope added: “It was a diamond-shaped metallic craft about 25 metres in diameter and there seemed to be military jets in the background.
“It wasn’t clear whether they were escorting this thing or even maybe chasing it.
“I actually had a copy of this. It was one of the things blown up on my office wall when I was at the UFO project.
“One day, my head of division took it down and locked it in a drawer because he didn’t think we should be displaying something like that.
“When the Ministry of Defence declassified and released its UFO files, which is an ongoing process, those photos and the copies that had been on my wall had mysteriously disappeared.”
He added: “I suspect that certain people thought that this was some secret prototype aircraft, a next-generation stealth that maybe nobody should be seeing.
“And maybe somebody quietly put it through the shredder and thought they were doing us a favour.”
Tales of the Unexplained is on Radio Scotland on Thursday at 2pm.

Fourth Reich Rising: Iron Sky and the Nazi UFO Mythos

Many have speculated in the decades following the end of the Second World War that the Axis Powers–namely Nazi Germany–had been involved in the secret production of highly advanced technology and exotic aircraft. According to various sources of rumor and speculation, some of these advanced aircraft, variously believed to have been jet-propelled saucers and possibly even “alienesque” field propulsion discs, were given names such as the “Hannebu” and “Vril,” the latter of these drawing from the ancient traditions of esoterica that many among Hitler’s ranks drew heavily from, both in terms of inspiration, as well as mystical and technological knowledge.
The idea that the Nazis may have been utilizing advanced technologies toward the end of the war is an intriguing prospect indeed. After all, the Ally’s most advanced aircraft had still yet to employ the the use of swept-wing designs and other more efficient construction that the Nazis were indeed exploring already. However, those inclined toward paranoia might wonder if there were other things Hitler’s scientists and aeronautics engineers might have been developing… and perhaps even strangest of all, if there is any existing potential that any such craft or other technologies might have somehow continued on, carefully (and conveniently) behinds the scenes of mainstream science.

This idea, however strange it seems, has obviously remained popular enough, at least, to have garnered Hollywood’s attention; hence the upcoming release of the farcical new alternative history/Scifi yarn Iron Sky features the concept heavily, drawing from the idea of Nazis who had gone into hiding on the dark side of Earth’s moon, in order to regroup and institute an elaborate and several-decades-long plan for revenge against the Earth that scorned them during the 1940s.
This, of course, is wholly fictional; and yet, the notion that Nazi technology and advanced physics they may have been investigating toward the end of the war has nonetheless served well as an alternative, in the minds of some, with regard to the origins of UFO craft witnessed since the late 1940s. For many, this notion seems more plausible than the idea that exotic lifeforms might be the forces behind what may, in fact, only appear to be highly-exotic aircraft seen above Earth at various times. This is likely because the idea of alien visitors, while intriguing, remains an area that is largely unquantifiable in terms of there being any scientific proof to back such claims. On the other hand, while we may never know to what real extent Nazi scientists may have been involved in projects that dealt with such things as anti-gravity, field propulsion systems, and other highly advanced technology, there is little question as to whether they would have shown interest in such things. Again, the question regarding the entire Nazi UFO question is this: how plausible is it that technologies as advanced as what do seem to be described in modern UFO reports could not only have been developed here on Earth, but were already in existence by the end of the 1950s?

During a recent edition of The Gralien Report Podcast, I discussed the various curious potentials associated with the Nazi UFO mythos during an interview with author Joseph P. Farrell, who put things in no uncertain terms: while there is evidence that certain files and documents released over the years may have some relation to alleged “Nazi sciences” of yesteryear, there is very little evidence that anything akin to what we see in films like Iron Sky will have any direct relevance to the reality of the situation. In other words, to suppose that UFOs might emanate from decades-old Nazi science is probably even less likely than to suppose that there may be an extraterrestrial link to the UFO equation.
Of course, when we take into consideration all the potential ties to underground Antarctic bases, strange experiments taking place during the Third Reich, and high-strangeness claims that involve the ongoing and multi-faceted UFO mythos, there will always be proponents of there being some esoteric Nazi connection to the greater UFO mystery… however unlikely the evidence for this may be in reality.
