The International UFO Congress will be held
February 26 - March 3, 2013 at the Fort McDowell Resort and Casino in Fountain
Hills, AZ.
Tempe, AZ, February 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The International UFO Congress, the largest annual UFO
conference in the world, will be celebrating its 22nd year this February 2013 in
the Phoenix area. The International UFO Congress is a leading organization for
the research and documentation of UFOs, the search for extraterrestrial life,
and related information.
The conference will be held at the Fort McDowell
Resort and Casino February 26th – March 3rd. It begins on Tuesday the 26th with
the EBE Film Festival, an all-day event which is free to the public and features
various UFO and related films. Conference presentations begin the following day.
Conference admission will be sold in packages for those many guests who make a
week of the event, along with à la carte options available for those who just
want to check it out for an afternoon. Arizona students will receive a 40%
discount when they present a valid student ID at the door. The vendor room, film
festival, and skywatch are free and open to the public.
The conference
will feature more than 20 speakers and wide variety of exhibitors from around
the globe, and covers a large variety of topics related to the UFO phenomenon
including sightings, technology, government cover-ups, exopolitics, black
projects, crop circles, alien visitation, space, and more.
Panel
presentations on Ancient Aliens, Investigating UFOs, and Ufology in the 21st
Century will feature authors, researchers and TV personalities and provide the
audience a chance to interact with speakers and ask the pertinent
questions.
“We strived to pull together a more diverse and interactive
line-up this year,” conference co-organizer Maureen Elsberry says, “with both
topics and speakers that the general public as well as seasoned UFO researchers
can take away something new from. We’re not asking you to believe every speaker
you hear, were asking you to keep an open mind.”
One of the most exciting
events this year will be the free Night Vision skywatch on Friday March 1st led
by Ben Hansen, the lead investigator from the popular SyFy show Fact or Faked.
Night Optics USA, a Bushnell company, will be providing some of their latest
military-grade technology for the watch.
“We’re going to have literally
every genre of night vision equipment you can think of…we probably plan on
coming with $30-50k worth of equipment,” said Hansen. “Hopefully we’ll catch
something, the last time I did this I recorded something up in Utah that was
pretty crazy and I still don’t know what it was.” Night Optics USA will also
have a tent in the vendor room all week at the event where people will be able
to test the gear in a fun and interactive display.
The event will also
feature a cocktail party with local British Invasion band, The Rave, the EBE
Film Festival Awards Banquet, and a performance by local musicians the Austen
Mack Quartet.

Dan Aykroyd’s fascination with allthings paranormal is well-known.And his next movie just might be about the famous 1961 alleged alien abduction of Betty and Barney Hill.
Reporter Doug MacCash from the Times-Picayune recently interviewed Aykroyd at a New Orleans supermarket where the actor and comedian was signing bottles of his Crystal Head Vodka. When MacCash asked Aykroyd to describe his next film project, he “became suddenly opaque.” MacCash explains, “Instead of answering directly, he discussed his enthusiasm for a series of UFO sightings and milestone alien abduction case that took place in New England.”
From this response, MacCash speculated, “I’m just letting my imagination run wild here, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a movie about the 1961 Betty and Barney Hill extraterrestrial encounter in the offing.”

Aykroyd has spoken publicly about UFOs many times in the past. UFO researcher David Sereda produced a 2005 documentary titled Dan Aykroyd Unplugged on UFOs, in which Aykroyd participated in an interview focused almost entirely on his UFO research. In April 2010, Aykroyd appeared among a panel of scientists on Larry King Live to discuss UFOs. When King asked him his beliefs, Aykroyd responded, “They are here, science should accept that they are here and look how they have come from a billion years in the future or the next dimension or wherever they are coming from. They have abducted people.”
With his belief in extraterrestrial abductions, and his fascination with the Hill abduction, it won’t be surprising if official confirmation of Aykroyd’s involvement in a movie about Betty and Barney Hill comes in the near future.

oh-so-mysterious ‘1952’ box, which supposedly holds clues to what we might
expect from Brad Bird’s upcoming, oh-so-mysterious sci-fi project Tomorrowland (working title: 1952). We pointed
out that a magazine buried inside the box is an August
1928 issue of Amazing Stories, the
cover story for which – The Skylark of
Space – deals with the
discovery and implications of free energy; interstellar travel; and – contrary
to denials by the film’s screenwriter Damon Lindelof –
aliens.
Well, now we have a smidgen more info thanks to D23:
the Official Disney Fan Club, which recently asked the
Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline to help solve the other mysteries
presented in Brad Bird’s photograph. Cline has numbered the items in the ‘1952’
photograph (above) and shared the following with D23 (note, in particular, the
description of photo #4, which suggests a possible military link to this Disney
project):
"From the age, type,
and conditions of the items I can see, I feel that the materials in the
box were gathered together for a project from the past. Perhaps as research for
a science-fiction-themed film, television, or park attraction, or even a
futurism project like Walt’s vision of EPCOT."
"It looks like someone
reused an old banker’s box from another Disney production. We don’t use this
style of boxes anymore at the studio. There is another sticker on the cover of
the box, but the text on the picture is obscured."
"Someone put tape over
the original production label and hand wrote "1952″ in pen—the brevity of
the title and the fact that it’s handwritten sounds to me like it’s probably a
working title. Both the studio and WED often used working titles before they
came up with a final title of the project. “The Concert Feature” was what they
called Fantasia before they decided upon a final name for
example."
"On the top there are
some old photos. The three that I can see are of Walt with visitors, probably
taken here at the studio. The one on top is in our photo collection and I was
able to identify the man with him as Major Woodlief of the U.S. Army Reserve
General Fund. It was taken in September 1943. The Disney Studio worked closely
with the United States government and military soon after the bombing of Pearl
Harbor on December 7, 1941, and U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force elements were
stationed at the Lot for the duration of the war. I can’t identify the people in
the other photos, but we have the negatives for the photos in our collection.
They were taken in 1950."
"There is a large
manila envelope sealed with a loose sticker. It appears to have material in it,
but we can only guess its contents. From the size and shape of the envelope, I
would guess it might contain maps, brochures, or some other kind of folded
documents."
"The magazine that
appears along with this curious collection of documents and objects provides
more clues. It is a copy of the science fiction magazine Amazing Stories
from August 1928. I got a closer look at the cover by looking it up online. It
shows a man in flight wearing some sort of jet pack, powered by a
hand-controlled device of some sort. After doing a little more research, I
discovered that the cover story of that particular issue is the serialized novel
The Skylark of Space, written by Elmer Edward "Doc" Smith and Lee Hawkins
Garby. Walt was always interested in futurism and flight especially in the 1950s
and early ’60s; in fact, for Disneyland’s Tencennial Celebration in 1965, he
actually had a man fly down Main Street, U.S.A. with a jet pack. The man
also did flight demonstrations in Tomorrowland in the Flight Circle."
"There are two slide
boxes in the box, one features the Technicolor logo; the writing on the other
white slide box is indecipherable."
"There is a 45 rpm
record that appears to be a master disc. It is probably from the ’40s or early
’50s (these type of records pre-date magnetic tape recording). It’s definitely
not the kind of record that is pressed and sold to the public. Unfortunately,
its handwritten label is too blurry to decipher."
"There is a blue
paperback book in the box. The title appears to be Moral Research. The
spine has other writing that I can’t read—the author’s name could possibly be at
the top, but I can’t make it out. There is another name that looks to me like
"Roland"—probably the name of a fictive publisher."
"There is a small
white box on the right side that looks like the boxes we use to store individual
reels of 8mm film. There is no print that I can see for further
ID."
"There is a U.S. mail
letter on the right side. I can see two purple postage stamps, but the
denomination is not clear enough to read."
"Under the photos,
record, magazine, and the letter is what looks to me like one of the old
peg-and-screw albums we used to use here at the Studio for scrapbooks. It
appears to have more photos and perhaps art in it (artboard anyway). Under that
are the old string accordion files that we used to use for clippings, documents,
loose art, etc. And there are a couple of manila mailing envelopes,
too."
Whatever it’s about, Tomorrowland is scheduled for
release December 19, 2014.
There is probably not a single person within Ufology who isn’t familiar with the controversy of the Men in Black; those dark-suited characters who do their very best to silence members of the public to UFO activity. That at least some MIB appear to come from within government (although certainly not the majority – which are a very different and far weirder and ghoulish breed) begs two important questions: What happens when those on the inside of officialdom see UFOs? Do they get similarly silenced? Yes, they most certainly do. And here’s one perfect – but, until now, barely known – example.
In my first book, A Covert Agenda – which was published in 1997 - I made mention of a small (but nonetheless intriguing) body of evidence pertaining to the collation and investigation of UFO data on the part of the sprawling Government Communications Headquarters at Cheltenham, England – a body with the daunting and massive task of secretly collecting and analyzing intelligence data by all manner of sources: telephone-monitoring, email interception, spy-satellites, and more.
Moreover, GCHQ works hand in glove with the United States’ National Security Agency – an agency with a rich history of involvement in the UFO puzzle. Second, on more than one occasion reports have surfaced relating to the sighting of UFOs over the GCHQ complex itself. To illustrate this, on 29 March 1996, two security guards assigned to the facility viewed during the early hours of the morning a silent, brightly-lit object that over-flew their heads while they patrolled the base.
“We just looked at it,” said one, adding, “We weren’t frightened. We were just amazed.”
The other concurred: “I have never seen anything like it before in my life. It was travelling very fast. It definitely was not a plane.”
The response from Government Communications Headquarters when the media latched on to what had occurred was tight lipped: “No doubt they did see something but I couldn’t say what it was,” was the carefully worded response from a GCHQ spokesman. At the time that I wrote A Covert Agenda, little more of substance had surfaced with respect to the events in question; however, behind the scenes, major concern had been expressed on the part of senior staff within GCHQ, something which resulted in stern words delivered to the witnesses – as will now become readily apparent. Robin Cole – a Cheltenham-based researcher who spent much of the mid to late 1990s digging into the GCHQ-UFO issue – has been able to shed further and much welcome light on the 29 March 1996 UFO encounter reported by two GCHQ security guards. And to mention the disturbing aftermath.
In an interview with me, Cole said: “Both of the guards were so convinced by what they’d seen that they went to The Citizen – this is the local newspaper that covers the Gloucester area – and reported it. Well, the papers went on to publish their names and the fact that they were security guards at GCHQ. Normally, people who work at the base just say that they’re civil servants, because they don’t want to be associated with GCHQ publicly.”
Cole says he “…didn’t make too big a deal out of it,” but “…did try and look into it all a bit deeper.”
It so happens, Cole explains, that a member of a local UFO group he was attached to ”… knew one of the security guards and another member used to work at GCHQ as a security guard and knew the other one. Well, they then subsequently invited the two of them around for tea and got on to talking about UFOs – as you do!”
Basically, adds Cole, when the article in The Citizen appeared the two guards made a statement to his – Cole’s – colleagues along the following lines:
“We were both hauled in before our superiors the following morning and we were told that what we had seen was the Mir Space Station, and that we were to drop it unless we wanted to face severe action. You know how it is at GCHQ; they’re all paranoid. But we know deep in our hearts that this was not a space station. It was far too low in orbit and it just came over and stopped. It was there for several minutes and was then joined by a second light. The one then seemed to drop down quite low, and as soon as it started dropping, the pair of them just shot off. And we know it wasn’t Mir.”
As this case – just one of many – demonstrates, it’s not only the general public that is encouraged to stay silent when UFO events occur. Even those in the employ of government face the wrath of officialdom when daring to speak out about their UFO experiences…

Your Need to Know! Ep. 4 - Italy's Fascist UFO Files

This next part in our new series, "Your Need to Know", Antonio Huneeus examines Italy's Fascist UFO Files. These files were originally delivered in the mid-nineties to famed Italian ufologist and author Roberto Pinotti, and sent on stationary bearing the seal of the Kingdom's Senate and Agenza Stefani, the regime news agency in charge of disseminating Fascist propaganda. Forensic analysis was done on the documents and they were found to be originals and not photocopies. Andrea Bedetti, a historian and expert on Italy's Fascist era, found that the stationary, aeronautical terminology and vocabulary were all consistent with real documents from the period. These documents contained written testimony describing in detail several sightings along with hand-drawn pictures. It also discloses that Mussolini and Ciano, Italy's number one and number two leaders were informed right away about the phenomenon. These documents also talk of the alleged creation of the top secret "Cabinet RS/33", led by Marconi, and included some of Italy's most prominent astronomers, scientists and aeronautical engineers. As things went sour for Italy during the war, all the files from Cabinet RS/33 were supposedly shipped to Nazi Germany, where they might have influenced the Italian aeronautical engineer Belluzzo.
Your Need to Know Ep. 5 - The RAND Corporation

This next part of our "Your Need to Know" series, Antonio Huneeus examines RAND Corporation's UFO document, titled UFO's: What to do? The RAND Corp was originally an outgrowth project of World War II, called Project RAND, in May of 1948 it separated from the Douglas Aircraft Company and became it's own independent, nonprofit organization.
George Kocher of the RAND Corporation, published this document in November of 1968, a few months after the University of Colorado completed it's Condon Report. The RAND Corp document is broken into five different essays, Historical Aspects, Astronomical Aspects, The Character of Reports, Phenomenological Aspects, and How to Proceed and Why. These essays explore the types of reports and sightings, how they are categorized, and a list of hypotheses that exist surrounding the phenomenon. The document also provides an example of a detailed UFO report form developed by the University of Colorado's study group.

The Vault was created in 2011 as a storehouse for commonly requested FBI documents already released under the Freedom of Information Act. Go to Vault.FBI.gov, and from there you can easily search a multitude of topics ranging from counterterrorism to unexplained phenomenon.
The FBI recently revealed on its website that the most searched document is a simple one page memo, called the "Guy Hottel Memo". Its contents were written on March 22, 1950, by Guy Hottel, a special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office, and allude to the crash and recovery of the Roswell UFO. The memo ends abruptly with a sentence stating that no further evaluations were attempted. Major news organizations reported on this document being newly released, but it was actually released under the Freedom of Information Act, and available since the 1970's. Bruce Maccabee was the first to obtain this document, and he believes it to be part of an elaborate hoax.

The documents became available in August 2012 under Australia's 30-year rule. This rule orders the release of government documents 30 years after they were created. Most of these records date from the 1950's to the 70's, when public interest in UFOs was high and many sightings were reported to Commonwealth authorities.

Chile is one of the few countries around the world that has a government-backed UFO research organization. In Spanish UFOs are referred to as OVNIs. [Objecto Volador No Identificado] In 1997 the country publicly recognized it was experiencing UFO sightings and that the phenomenon was real. Some incidents could not be explained by natural phenomena and could not be identified as any type of man-made object.

The government of Brazil has openly acknowledged the topic since the 1950's and has released a number of UFO files from their investigations. It has always been difficult for westerners to coordinate with UFO researchers in eastern countries. However, China has amazing UFO cases, and the Chinese government has helped UFO researchers get their findings to the public. This episode of Your Need to Know covers some of those great Chinese UFO cases, and reviews how modern UFO research, with the aid of the Chinese government, began.
It’s amazing what you can find when you go looking into the seldom-studied archives of certain government, military, and intelligence agencies. A perfect case in point being a certain, brief wave of encounters of the UFO kind that reached the eyes and ears of the old British Air Ministry in the clearly-defined period of August to September 1963. Each and every one of the cases referred to below (and many more from this same time frame) can be found in the depths of Britain’s National Archives, but have seldom received the publicity they deserve. So, it’s time to change that…
An event occurred at Beckenham, Kent, England, in late August 1963 that bore all the hallmarks of an encounter with one of the fabled Foo Fighters of the Second World War. And, notably, the witness had a military background: he had served during the hostilities of 1939-45 with an anti-aircraft detachment and until 1961 was attached to a territorial unit of the British Army.
As Mr. W. Hooper informed the Air Ministry:
“At 0150 hrs on Tuesday the 27th August I was awakened by my wife to see what appeared to be something in flames falling from the sky, slightly N.W. of my house. This object appeared to be a ball of incandescent gas, red and black and was about a foot in diameter, and gave the impression of intense heat. It dropped like a stone from approximately 1000 ft to 500 ft, then stayed still for about 2-3 seconds, then started moving at an incredible speed in a Northerly direction and was out of sight in a matter of about 4 seconds. As it went away the wind brought a slight humming sound to us and the red and black appearance turned slightly yellow.”
He continued: “I would be grateful if you could throw any light on the matter for me and would like especially to know if you had anything showing on your radar screens at the time I have stated. I am convinced that the object was powered as it travelled against the wind, and think what we saw may have been some sort of exhaust gas or flame.”
Possibly anticipating that Whitehall would offer a totally down-to-earth explanation for what occurred, Mr. Hooper closed his letter thus: “I hope you will not try and persuade me that the object was a meteorological balloon as these as far as I know could not possibly travel against the wind.”
In this particular case, Air Intelligence once again asserted that a solution had been found. Mr. Hooper, came back the conclusion, had been fooled by a “fireball.” That the UFO had hovered in the air for two to three seconds was ignored by Air Intelligence; as was the fact that Mr. Hooper’s anti-aircraft work during the Second World War would have given him first-class observational skills.
Three weeks later, on 16 September 1963, Flight Lieutenant A.J. Brown of RAF Middleton St. George, near Darlington, England received details of an encounter with an unidentified aerial intruder reported by one O. Filon of County Durham. Undercover of a Restricted memorandum forwarded to Whitehall, Flt. Lt. Brown mailed a copy of Mr. Filon’s report, which read thus:
“At approximately 10.25 p.m. last night (sun. 15th) my son called me into his bedroom. He pointed out a light looking exactly like a star. It was moving towards us in what appeared a very slow fashion. I at first took it to be a plane but the light was too bright and it appeared to be at a great height. The light then appeared to be zig-zagging. Not as an aircraft would, i.e. with a bank or curve at each new leg of flight but with an immediate change of direction.
“When almost overhead the light underwent a course change of approx. 90 degrees. The line of flight was again constant and it headed away in an E.S.E. direction. After a short time it appeared stationary. This was for maybe three to four minutes. The light suddenly appeared to go out, then just for a fraction of a second it seemed to be dark blue, then it was gone.
“The only conclusion I can make out is that it was moving outwards! The whole thing lasted for approx. 15 mins. and was seen by my wife, my son and myself.”
And again, there was the crucial factor so present in the overwhelming majority of those cases discussed thus far: “I would like to point out that during the war I was a radar operator, a trained supervisor, one of six selected for the whole of the M.E. Command.”
Needless to say, the Air Ministry again dismissed the case. “The man saw a satellite,” Air Intelligence informed the office at Whitehall that handled UFO reports from the general public.
Barely a week after, a UFO incident took place at Peterborough, England, that involved both civilian and military witnesses. The facts were set forth in a two-page Restricted report from Sergeant T.G.M. Kendall at RAF Wittering, Northants., who graphically relayed to the Air Ministry what took place; and since this particular report is of some significance, I reproduce its contents in total:
“Sir, I have the honour to report the following facts for your consideration. I was NCO in charge [of the] Operations Room at 2240 hours on 26th September, 1963 when I received a telephone call from Mr. STRICKSON of [witness’s address] who, in company with Mr. QUANTRELL of the same address, saw what he considered to be two unidentified flying objects. The objects were in view in the first instance from 2000-2100 hours.
“During that time two orange coloured balls of light travelled from the South to the East in a zig-zag fashion, then were seen again moving from West to East. They were then seen to orbit overhead for some ten minutes during which time three or four objects left the two first mentioned and then rejoined them. Mr. Strickson was not able to estimate the range or the altitude of the sightings, but considered them to be higher than an aeroplane but lower than a star.
“I received a further call from Mr. Strickson at 2250 hours reporting two objects blue in colour, higher than the previous sighting, and travelling very quickly. At 2320 hours Mr. Strickson informed me of two sightings which had taken place at 2305 hours when two objects were seen to move west to east in close formation one behind the other, the one in front being appreciably brighter than the one behind.
“At 2330, 2340 and 2350 hours, I received calls from S.A.C.W. [Author’s Note: Senior Aircraftswoman] Marshall, the Duty PBX Operator, who had seen a bright orange light moving north to south which had turned south in the first instance and subsequently orbited overhead. At one time she thought that she had heard engines but was not sure.
“As a result of these calls, I joined S.A.C.W. Marshall outside the PBX building and saw at 0010 and 0020 hours two orange lights approx. 30 seconds apart which appeared from W.S.W. at a constant altitude heading approx. 100 degrees, flying what I considered to be a left hand race track pattern.
“I lost sight of the objects as they described a descending left hand turn onto the reciprocal of the visible leg. The sightings were exactly 10 minutes apart and speed, direction and altitude appeared to be constant. Flying Officer Gastrell was Duty Operations Officer when these sightings were reported. On his instructions I informed the Duty Operations Officer No.3 Group of the various reports. He in turn contacted the Duty Operations Officer at Air Ministry.
“The Duty Operations Officer at Air Ministry required a full report to be submitted to Air Ministry D.D.I. Tech [Author’s Note: Deputy Directorate of Intelligence, Technical] giving full particulars of all witnesses. A met. Report giving the conditions at two specimen times during the period of sightings is attached to this report. I have the honour to be, Sir, Your obedient Servant, T.G.M. Kendall, Sergeant.”
Once again the Air Ministry quickly came up with a solution. All of the witnesses (including trained military observers) had been fooled by an air-to-air refuelling operation. However, an examination of the files pertaining to the case show that, in reality, this was simply the Ministry’s best “guesstimate,” as no such refuelling operation was ever officially confirmed as having taken place.
The cases cited above are just three of many that caught the attention of the Air Ministry in August and September 1963; yet they were all dismissed as of no consequence – even though the witnesses were serving or retired military personnel.
A case of the government of the day merely wanting to be rid of the UFO controversy because it was embarrassed by the fact that it didn’t have a full understanding of the matter? An attempt to play-down officialdom’s shocking knowledge of visitations to our world from something unearthly? Or something else? Fifty years later, it’s unlikely we’ll ever have solid answers...
