UFO suspected in Chinese plane nose cone damage
An Air China jet was forced to make an emergency landing after experiencing a large bang. Upon landing, the nose cone was found dented, and it was suspected that the plane collided with something, but just what caused the damage is still under debate.
Air China flight CA4307 left Chengdu on the morning of June 4, headed for Guangzhou. According to China Daily, Air China reported the possible collision occurred at 10:11 am. The pilot contacted the Chengdu airport, and returned to Chengdu for an emergency landing.
China Daily reports the damage was due to a collision with a bird. However, The Aviation Herald says a bird strike was ruled out “due to a lack of blood, feathers or any other bird remains.” A couple of pilots on The Aviation Herald website have commented that they experienced similar situations. In those cases the damage was due to a damaged radar in the cone, causing the nose cone to collapse.
According to The Sun, experts concur the damage was not due to a bird. They say the plane’s elevation was too high for birds, and suggest another possibility could be a drone. The Sun says Chinese authorizes have yet to officially respond on the cause of the accident.
However, a report released last week on the near collision with “flat, silver discs” reported by pilots in England is fresh in people’s minds. So it is no wonder there is speculation that a UFO could be the cause of the damage to the Chinese plane.
Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator for Britain’s Ministry of Defence, told The Sun:
Cases like this show that whatever people believe about UFOs, there are serious air safety issues here. MoD and CAA files contain dozens of reports of near misses between UFOs and commercial aircraft. It’s only a matter of time before there’s a catastrophe. From the look of the photos, this disturbing incident came very close to blowing this aircraft out of the sky.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever struck the aircraft will have left evidence. Analysis of the damaged nose cone should reveal microscopic traces of whatever struck the aircraft, or possibly even larger pieces of debris. So this is a solvable mystery. The only question is, will the notoriously secretive Chinese authorities reveal the truth about what happened?
National UFO Alert: Seven States Report 265 May Cases
By Roger Marsh - TheHuffingtonPost
The National UFO ALERT Rating System has been updated for June 013, with California, Texas, Florida, Arizona, NEW YORK, Ohio and Pennsylvania moving to a UFO Alert 3 as the highest reporting states during the month of May 013, filed with the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).
California was the leading high-reporting state in May with 67 cases, up from 47 April cases, 59 March cases, 53 February cases and 63 January cases.
Those states in a UFO Alert 4 category with 13 or more reports include: Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Washington, Colorado, Indiana and Minnesota.
All other states move to a UFO Alert 5 category with lower numbers of UFO activity. The Watch States – with 10 or more cases – are Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina and Maryland.
MUFON released May statistics June 1, where the total number of reported UFO sightings is listed by state. These statistics are used to rate states. The entire country was moved back to the lowest alert level – UFO Alert 5.
California takes the lead with 67 cases; Texas, 39; Florida, 39; Arizona, 33; NEW YORK, 31; Ohio, 29; and Pennsylvania, 27.
Those states with 13 or more reports, the next reporting tier level, are a UFO Alert 4 status: Michigan, 18; Illinois, 16; Missouri, 16; Washington, 15; Colorado, 14; Indiana, 14; and Minnesota, 14.
Our Watch States this month are – with 10 reports or more: Virginia, 12; New Jersey, 12; North Carolina, 12; and Maryland, 10.
The sphere remains the most-reported UFO shape with 187 May reports, up from 144 April reports, 124 March reports; 124 February reports; and 172 January reports. Other shape reports include: Circle, 117; Triangle, 92; Star-like, 90; Other, 88; Unknown, 81; Disc, 77; Fireball, 72; Oval, 59; Flash, 37; Cylinder, 34; Boomerang, 22; Diamond, 21; Cigar, 20; Chevron, 16; Bullet/Missile, 13; Blimp, 11; Egg, 8; Cone, 7; Teardrop, 7; Cross, 3; and Saturn-like, 2.
The object’s distance from the witness includes: Less than 100 feet, 100 cases; 101 to 500 feet, 88 cases; 501 feet to one mile, 148 cases; over one mile, 166 cases; unknown, 232; and no value stated, 25.
In addition, there were “19 landings, hovering, or takeoffs reported and 1 entity observed.”
The most interesting UFO reports do not necessarily come from high reporting states – but those states with higher numbers do account for some of the most interesting evidence to study. While UFO sightings seem to pop up randomly around the country, this list is meant to offer a small insight into where Americans are filing reports.

UFO Movie News Round Up
By Robbie Graham
HBO is moving into the sci-fi arena with an epic series exploring extraterrestrial contact. According to Deadline, The Spark, which is currently in development, “is set in a world undergoing a technological/industrial revolution in the near future when contacted by a signal from beyond the solar system. It centers on the human reaction to a mystery still spiritually and technologically out of reach and follows a female protagonist as she works on the cusp of the Earth’s effort to discover the origin of the signal.”
The man behind The Spark is Karl Gajdusek – creator/executive producer of ABC’s Last Resort series and co-writer of the Tom Cruise sci-fi, Oblivion. Gajdusek, who will write and executive produce The Spark, says his series will explore on a human level what he calls the five pillars of science fiction: “Alien Contact, Artificial Intelligence, Technological breakthroughs, Space Exploration/Adventure, and Origin Stories.”
Sounds great, but is this reminding everyone else of a certain 1985 Carl Sagan novel that became a certain 1997 Jodie Foster/Robert Zemeckis movie.

Roland Emmerich’s Centropolis Entertainment has bought the rights to what Deadline’s Mike Fleming Jr describes as “an alien invasion storycontaining hot-button science elements.” Titled Emergence, Centropolis will bring the story to the big screen as “a large scale contemporary science fiction film,” and Emmerich himself will direct.
The pitch for Emergence was written by Nic Kelman, best known for his 2003 bestselling novel, Girls.Deadline points out that Kelman holds a Bachelor of Science from MIT and speculates that the writer’s scientific background will notably inform the plot for Emmerich’s film. “This [Emergence] falls into the latest trend encompassing films like the Christopher Nolan-directed Interstellar, which melds narrative storytelling with grounded science theory.”
Quite what scientific angle Emergence will explore in relation to alien invasion is unclear at this point, though it may be notable that, while at MIT, Kelman majored in Brain and Cognitive Science. Does this mean we might see an alien movie finally getting to grips with the strong psychic aspects of alien encounters commonly reported by UFO witnesses? Time will tell, but not for a while yet as no release date has been announced. Expect 2015 at the earliest. In the meantime, Emmerich has two Independence Day sequels to deliver.

UFOs: What the Government Doesn’t Know
By Nick Redfern
Just a few days ago, I was interviewed for a radio show that allowed time at the end for listeners to phone in and ask questions regarding various aspects of the UFO phenomenon. One of the questions was along the lines of: “Will the government, one day, tell us the truth about UFOs, and if not, why not?” It is, of course, a perfectly valid question. As we know – thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and witness testimony – agencies of numerous, worldwide governments most assuredly have taken an interest in UFO activity. And for decades, too.
There is, however, one important issue to take into consideration regarding the above-question. Namely, there is the assumption that just because government agencies have secretly investigated UFO encounters for years, this must mean they have all the answers regarding what is afoot in our skies. But, here’s a thought to keep in mind: what if those same agencies actually don’t have all the answers? In fact, what if they don’t have any answers?
Now, that’s not to say that “the government” may not have acquired a huge amount of data on UFOs. Again, the FOIA proves that reams of data on UFO activity have been collected and studied for decades. We also hear of clandestine, official surveillance of alien abductees. There are the many stories of alien bodies and crashed UFOs held in secure underground vaults and hangars at fortified, well-guarded installations. And then there are the incredible accounts relative to claims of actual face to face contact between extraterrestrial entities and representatives of government.
Knowing where the truth begins and ends – and where rumor, lies, disinformation, and friend of a friend tales take a hold - is anyone’s guess. But, going back to the question that has prompted this article, a few things need to be said. Maybe agencies of government really do have those dead alien bodies and UFO artifacts stored away from prying eyes (that means us, by the way!). But, does having a lot of data – even bodies and the wrecked remains of several craft of unknown origins – mean that a lot of questions about the actual nature and intent of the phenomenon have been answered? Very possibly not.
Perhaps we give the domain of officialdom too much credit. After all, if the Roswell, New Mexico event of July 1947 really was focused around the crash and recovery of a strange vehicle and even stranger bodies, what would that have actually told the government of the day? Well, first and foremost, it would have told them that someone – or something – was skulking around, spying on us, and doing so in New Mexico, home to important facilities of that era, such as Los Alamos and White Sands. But would the event – and the recovery of the material evidence – actually have revealed anything else?
Even if autopsies of the retrieved bodies determined they were non-human and very possibly extraterrestrial, such a determination would have revealed nothing about why the entities were here or where they were from. Nor would it have revealed why they were acting – and why they still act – in a very stealthy, cloak and dagger fashion.
It’s the same with testimony from military pilots, radar-based reports, and photographs secured by military personnel. It is, without doubt, undeniably fascinating data, it bolsters the theory we are being visited by something, and it shows that something strange and remarkable really is going on. But, as with the “alien body” issue, footage, testimony, and data acquired via radar offer no meaningful insight into the matter of why these things are here or what they want.
A similar situation exists with regard to the alien abduction phenomenon. Far more than a few abductees have reported what sounds suspiciously like covert surveillance of their lives and activities by intelligence agencies. Mail tampering, unmarked helicopters flying at low and intimidating levels over homes, and strange phone calls are not uncommon in abduction circles.
Even if this is the work of hidden units and groups in the military, we should consider the very real possibility that officialdom is watching the abductees not because they know all the ins and outs of the phenomenon. Maybe the surveillance is undertaken because the agencies haven’t got a clue what really lies behind the abduction mystery. So, they spy on the abductees in the hope that these people – the ones claiming direct contact with the entities behind the UFO phenomenon – can provide the insight and the answers that those running the classified programs are looking for.
And this all brings me back to the question put to me on the radio a few nights ago. Whether they actually realize it or not, many people demanding that government agencies reveal the truth about the UFO phenomenon make a big leap of faith. They presume that having – and hiding – data, and maybe even physical evidence too, also means officialdom has a full handle on what’s afoot, and that agencies know all about where the entities are from, and what they want with us. In other words, they assume government has the definitive answers.
They also assume that the silence is due to the fact that government bodies are attempting to back-engineer recovered UFOs, to try and utilize the advanced alien technology in military applications. Or, that the silence is due to the government having uncovered something terrible that might have a bearing on history and religion, and which can never be revealed to us, without collapsing long-established institutions.
I suggest, however, the ongoing silence on the part of government may be for a very different reason. Military and intelligence personnel may well have solid proof that non-human entities (whether genuine E.T.s, inter-dimensional beings, or something stranger) are here. But maybe that’s all they know. Perhaps the tales of “government treaties with aliens,” and of agencies having proof that UFOs are from this star-system or from that galaxy, are nothing but disinformation, ingeniously designed to have us conclude the government knows, fully, what’s afoot and is in control of the situation.
But, just maybe, at the end of the day, they really know nothing – beyond the startling fact that we have been visited. Official silence, when it comes to UFOs, may not be provoked by what the government knows. Overwhelming fear of admitting to large scale ignorance of what is going on, in our very midst, may be the primary issue.
