Former Pilot to Obama tells of his UFO experience / Includes video

A then-Sen. Barack Obama is seen with Cpt. Andy Danziger on Election Day, 2008.

By Brent Peterson

Retired U.S. Airline Captain Andy Danziger, who flew then-Sen. Obama on his 2008 presidential election day tells his UFO Experience! During his 27-years in the skies the veteran Boeing pilot, who flew 737s, 757s and 767s during his career.

It was April 10, 1989 and early in my career. I was still a first officer at a regional airline. It was about 8 p.m. and we had just taken off from Kansas City International Airport bound for Waterloo, Iowa. It was a beautiful evening, with a full moon, clear skies and crisp early spring temperatures. The weather forecast for Waterloo was as nice, with clear skies and unlimited visibility.
After a short taxi and take-off, Air Traffic Control (ATC) cleared us to our cruise altitude of 15,000 feet. We established a Northeasterly heading, pointed strait at Waterloo, about 200 miles ahead. There were thin wispy clouds all around us, illuminated by the light of the full moon that shone through the captain’s-side window at our left. Despite the presence of these clearly visible wispy clouds everywhere, we weren’t flying through any of them. There was also a white disc dimly but clearly visible through those clouds just off to our right.

We flew on and I commented to Bruce, the captain, about this dimly visible disc. He said that he’d been watching the same thing since we had leveled off. It looked similar to the moon faintly visible though thin fog, except the two were visible at the same time on opposite sides of our cockpit. We looked down below for search lights, you know, the kind that’s sometimes used for aerial light displays or advertising at a car dealer, but there was no beam of light coming from the ground, no search light from an airport either. The captain and I had cumulatively spent many years flying and were accustomed to seeing — day and night — all manner of airplane, blimp, hot air balloon, satellite and bird. But neither of us had any idea what this disc could be.
We spent 20 to 30 minutes at our cruise altitude, all the while staring at this white disc dimly visible through some clouds that we somehow never seemed to fly through. Within about 40 miles of Waterloo, ATC confirmed the weather, still clear skies and unrestricted visibility at our destination as we began to descend. We got busy with our flying duties and for a short while, maybe for a minute, both of us had looked away from the disc, but when I looked up at it again I saw something that has been burned into my memory.

I yelled to Bruce, “Holy s–t!” He immediately looked over from what he was doing. Above the clouds, where the white disc had been, was a now giant red ball. It was big and bright and just sat there above the clouds. It wasn’t intense enough to illuminate us with a red glow but it was still plenty bright. We sat there in stunned silence. We obviously didn’t want to hit it but quickly saw that it was flying parallel to our course. We weren’t on a collision course and we also weren’t gaining on it. Time became a blur as we continued our descent, this giant, red ball holding its course.
We slowly lost altitude and at around 13,000 feet, the brightly glowing ball began a gradual descent, too. As it did, it slowly started disappearing behind those wispy clouds. In about 30 seconds, like a setting sun but not nearly as bright, it vanished behind the clouds. The instant it fully disappeared, hundreds of lights began flashing from within the clouds.

As I looked on in disbelief, the flashing lights were brighter than ever and I could see that the section of the cloud that the glowing red ball had descended behind was starting to stretch apart like a piece of “Silly Putty,” two halves being pulled slowly apart with the middle getting thinner and thinner. This continued until the halves grew so thin that it tore apart and, pop! Everything was gone. The dimly lit disc, the flashing lights, the thin wispy clouds that we had with us for the last 40 minutes; all of it, gone. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Only the full moon remained off to our left.
Bruce and I just looked at each other. “Oh my God, what the f–k was that”, was all I could muster. My colleague just stared out the windscreen, mesmerized. We discussed whether we should report what we had just witnessed. After a few minutes, I picked up the radio mic and asked the Kansas City Center controller if they had anything on radar. “Nope, nothing but you,” came the response. “No, not right now but a couple minutes ago, at our one to two o’clock,” I replied. “No,” he repeated, “It’s a slow night. I’ve got the entire sector between Kansas City and Waterloo and you’re all that’s been in it for the last hour.” Bruce and I again just looked at each other, completely dumbfounded. “So for the last say 40 minutes or so you’ve had no traffic at all, not at our one or two o’clock?” I asked. “No sir, not at your one or two o’clock, not anywhere, you’re all there is,” he assured us.

"A minute or so later, from over the radio came, “Air Midwest , do you want to report a UFO?” We looked at each other for a couple seconds and Bruce nodded his head. “Yes sir, we do,” I finally replied. “OK, take down this number and call when you get on the ground."

Video by Fox News

After deplaning we called the number. “National UFO Reporting Center” said the voice from the other end. At the time I didn’t even know such a place existed, but they took collect calls from pilots and air traffic controllers. Bruce told the person on the other end of the line that we wanted to report a UFO. We were interviewed separately, first the captain and then me. When my interview was finished the man on the other end of the line said that we would never hear from him again and would never receive any additional information, this was going to be our first and only contact regarding the sighting. I asked, “Can I ask just one question, do you think we’re crazy, has anyone else ever reported something like this?”
“Oh no, you’re not crazy at all,” he replied. “This very same thing has been reported by pilots countless times.” And while neither of us had any idea what we had saw one thing we were certain of, it wasn’t from here.

Our airline had no official UFO policy (nor did any that I ever worked for), but at the time we were both young with long and promising careers in front of us. We knew through the grapevine that pilots weren’t supposed to talk about UFOs so we swore the station agent on duty to secrecy and agreed not to talk about our incident to any of our co-workers.
That was more than 25 years ago. Today I’m older, wiser and at the end of my career. In my last few years of flying the subject of UFOs occasionally came up in the cockpit. If it was brought up at all, it was usually by a younger, newer first officer who’d say something with much trepidation. More than a few pilots have shared their UFO stories with me, too. I’m not going too far out on a ledge to say that virtually all pilots believe in UFOs. Little green men, “close encounters”, alien kidnappings,… not so much, but with billions of stars and trillions of planets out there, “ya gotta believe”, and almost all of us do.

I hope this gets through as i have tried to submit before. Driving back to south dakota night of May 27 w my 67 year old dad 14 year old son and 15 year old niece when we saw a craft fly about 100 ft above us. There were cars pulled over on other side of interstate, so going west toward Colorado, 4 total. We saw a total of about 8, but not sure if new ones followed or there were more? The first one that flew over us was triangular in shape w bright white lights down the middle and red and blue lights on the sides. The objects followed us for maybe 45 minutes when we pulled off interstate (not sure which town) to fill up. This is when my son got the video on his phone. This craft is much larger, we figured about 2 football fields in size. The video is 50 seconds long. In it you can see a door open and bodies moving around and at the back is orange/red lights and at front is bright white light where towards end of video something appears to shoot out of it, this object is also brigt white!! I wanted to pull over at the time but mu niece wad crying and begging me not to. We were headed east out of co to sd, can't remember which interstate? We were all very excited and nervous. When we first started seeing these the cars that were pulled over on interstate had doors all open and mo lights at all. As i said, we also have interesting pix but can't get them all to send so for now I will just send video.

Monks Pray For Answers to Why a UFO Visited Their Temple

By Paul Seaburn

Monks are considered to be holy people, which should make them pretty reliable witnesses. So it’s hard to question the eyewitness reports of a group of monks in China who saw a UFO hovering over their temple and changing shapes from an apple to the Buddha himself. But just for you non-believers, they captured it on video too.

The first indication that there might be a mysterious presence at the Baita Temple in Anhui province occurred when a security alarm went off at 11 pm on May 28th. Father Shi Xingkong was on security duty that night and went to investigate after turning off the alarm. He said he saw nothing unusual outside and went back in to check the video (yep, even Buddhist monks need security cameras). That’s when he saw it.

"It was only when I looked on the monitor that I could see the UFO."

The video shows the object for seven minutes – hovering over the temple, changing shapes and even flying inside the temple itself for a brief moment. After that, the UFO began rotating quickly and shot out of the camera’s view.
The monks thought that the UFO looked like an apple, a flying saucer and, not surprisingly, a sitting Buddha. They had no idea what it actually was other than it had some mass since it set off the infrared alarm.

Various security camera images of the UFO

Speculation outside the temple on what the UFO might be ranged from a toy drone to an insect to ball lightning. A local meteorologist discounted the ball lightning theory because he felt the UFO moved too slow to be that phenomenon. He preferred the bug idea, saying that bugs glow when they get too close to the camera. Is he combining theories and thinking it’s a lightning bug?
The meteorologist also questioned whether the UFO actually went into the temple.
Whoa! Doubting Buddhist monks? I seem to remember a TV show about a monk who knew kung fu and didn’t like to be doubted.
What does it look like to you? Whatever the UFO was, the monks have candles lit, incense burning and security cameras fully charged in anticipation of the next visit.

Emergency 911 Calls : UFOs and Police Officers / Video

Published on 30 May 2015
The crux of this UFO problem has embroiled law enforcement in an unwanted liaison. The very nature of strange objects in the sky and on the ground causes cops to get the call and get involved. It is one of the aspects of the mystery that should show skeptics and the community as a whole that there is truly something to this problem. Storch would be the first one to denounce this problem as an illusion, or a hoax, if the law enforcement community was not involved.

'Warminster Thing' marked in 50th anniversary UFO mural

The "secret" artist is still adding finishing touches including glow-in-the-dark paint

By BBC News

Sightings of a mystery object in the skies above Wiltshire 50 years ago have been immortalised in a mural.
The reports of the UFO, known as "The Warminster Thing", came from many people who heard mysterious sounds and saw objects in the night sky in 1965.
The mural, by a "secret" artist, was organised by the Warminster Information Centre which said the "utterly unique event" should not be forgotten.
The artwork is on the old police station wall by the information centre.

Many people took photos of the Warminster Thing during 1965

George Rich, from the Warminster Information Centre, said: "[The mural] has attracted lots of attention. People are already taking lots of pictures.
"And that's what we want them all to do, come along and stand in the beam, do selfies and get it all on Facebook."
Leslie Blain, also from the information centre, said it had taken eight months to plan and organise the mural.
She said: "It's a secret as to who actually did the painting. He said it's still not finished, so you might be able to catch him in action.
"He said he's going to add some other elements. There is going to be some glow-in-the-dark paint. So over the day when it's sunny, the wall will heat up and at night time the picture will glow."

A public meeting was held in the town to discuss the strange phenomenon

Photographs of Warminster's "flying saucers" appeared in national and local newspapers at the time, giving the town much publicity.
A public meeting was held over the 1965 August bank holiday after thousands of people visited Warminster to try to see UFOs for themselves.

E.T. and the Brookings Institution

By Nick Redfern

In the December 1960/January 1961 issue of the NICAP UFO Investigator journal, a small article was published under the heading of “Space-Life Report Could be Shock.” It read as follows: “The discovery of intelligent space beings could have a severe effect on the public, according to a research report released by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The report warned that America should prepare to meet the psychological impact of such a revelation. The 190-page report was the result of a $96,000 one-year study conducted by the Brookings Institution for NASA’s long-range study committee.”

NICAP expanded further: “Public realization that intelligent beings live on other planets could bring about profound changes, or even the collapse of our civilization, the research report stated. ‘Societies sure of their own place have disintegrated when confronted by a superior society,’ said the NASA report. ‘Others have survived even though changed. Clearly, the better we can come to understand the factors involved in responding to such crises the better prepared we may be.’ Although the research group did not expect any immediate contact with other planet beings, it said that the discovery of intelligent space races ‘could nevertheless happen at any time.”

NICAP – the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena, which was a public UFO research study group – continued: “Even though the UFO problem was not indicated as a reason for the study, it undoubtedly was an important factor. Fear of public reaction to an admission of UFO reality was cited as the main reason for secrecy in the early years of the AF [Air Force] investigation.
“Radio communication probably would be the first proof of other intelligent life, says the NASA report. It adds: ‘Evidences of its existence might also be found in artifacts left on the moon or other planets.’”

Prof. Harold D. Lasswell

NICAP further noted that the document gave weight to “…previous thinking by scholars who have suggested that the earth already may be under close scrutiny by advanced space races. In 1958, Prof. Harold D. Lasswell of the Yale Law School stated: ‘The implications of the UFOs may be that we are already viewed with suspicion by more advanced civilizations and that our attempts to gain a foothold elsewhere may be rebuffed as a threat to other systems of public order.’”

NICAP concluded: “The NASA warning of a possible shock to the public, from the revelation of more advanced civilizations, support’s NICAP’s previous arguments against AF [Air Force] secrecy about UFOs. All available information about UFOs should be given to the public now, so that we will be prepared for any eventuality.”

The document to which NICAP was referring was titled Proposed Studies on the Implications of Peaceful Space Activities for Human Affairs. It was a document written by an employee of the Brookings Institution named Donald N. Michael. The report was contracted by the Committee on Long Range Studies, which was an arm of NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The document was completed and provided to the House of Representatives in the 87th United States Congress on April 18, 1961.
More than half a century after it was completed, the document is still noted for its intriguing and controversial content, much of which has potential impact on the UFO phenomenon. One of the most notable entries reads: “While face-to-face meetings with it will not occur within the next twenty years (unless its technology is more advanced than ours, qualifying it to visit earth), artifacts left at some point in time by these life forms might possibly be discovered through our space activities on the Moon, Mars, or Venus.”

Face on Mars

It has been suggested by some UFO theorists that this “artifacts” statement might imply Brookings and NASA had already uncovered data on – and secured photographs of – the controversial “Face on Mars.” The report then makes what can only be interpreted as a thinly veiled threat, regarding what the future might bring, if the presence of intelligent, extraterrestrial life in our midst was confirmed:
“Anthropological files contain many examples of societies, sure of their place in the universe, which have disintegrated when they have had to associate with previously unfamiliar societies espousing different ideas and different life ways; others that survived such an experience usually did so by paying the price of changes in values and attitudes and behavior.”

The Michaels paper continued: “Since intelligent life might be discovered at any time via the radio telescope research presently under way, and since the consequences of such a discovery are presently unpredictable because of our limited knowledge of behavior under even an approximation of such dramatic circumstances, two research areas can be recommended:

“Continuing studies to determine emotional and intellectual understanding and attitudes — and successive alterations of them if any — regarding the possibility and consequences of discovering intelligent extraterrestrial life.

“Historical and empirical studies of the behavior of peoples and their leaders when confronted with dramatic and unfamiliar events or social pressures. Such studies might help to provide programs for meeting and adjusting to the implications of such a discovery. Questions one might wish to answer by such studies would include: How might such information, under what circumstances, be presented to or withheld from the public for what ends? What might be the role of the discovering scientists and other decision makers regarding release of the fact of discovery?”

The questions were many. Granted they were theoretical, but they provoked raised eyebrows and concerned thoughts within NASA and the U.S. Government. An individual’s reactions to such a radio contact, said Brookings, “…would in part depend on his cultural, religious, and social background, as well as on the actions of those he considered authorities and leaders, and their behavior, in turn, would in part depend on their cultural, social, and religious environment.”

And, as the Brookings team also said: “The discovery would certainly be front-page news everywhere; the degree of political or social repercussion would probably depend on leadership’s interpretation of (1) its own role, (2) threats to that role, and (3) national and personal opportunities to take advantage of the disruption or reinforcement of the attitudes and values of others. Since leadership itself might have great need to gauge the direction and intensity of public attitudes, to strengthen its own morale and for decision making purposes, it would be most advantageous to have more to go on than personal opinions about the opinions of the public and other leadership groups.”

Brookings highlighted an important issue that the conformation of alien life might have on the Human Race, as a whole: “The knowledge that life existed in other parts of the universe might lead to a greater unity of men on earth, based on the ‘oneness’ of man or on the age-old assumption that any stranger is threatening. Much would depend on what, if anything, was communicated between man and the other beings.”

One of the most controversial issues that occupied Brookings was that relative to the impact that the existence of alien life would have on the world of religion: “The positions of the major American religious denominations, the Christian sects, and the Eastern religions on the matter of extraterrestrial life need elucidation. Consider the following: ‘The Fundamentalist (and anti-science) sects are growing apace around the world. For them, the discovery of other life – rather than any other space product – would be electrifying. Some scattered studies need to be made both in their home centers and churches and their missions, in relation to attitudes about space activities and extraterrestrial life.

“If plant life or some subhuman intelligence were found on Mars or Venus, for example, there is on the face of it no good reason to suppose these discoveries, after the original novelty had been exploited to the fullest and worn off, would result in substantial changes in perspectives or philosophy in large parts of the American public, at least any more than, let us say, did the discovery of the coelacanth or the panda.”

The Human Race stood a very good chance of having its collective ego bruised by a close encounter with aliens, Brookings advised NASA: “If super intelligence is discovered, the results become quite unpredictable. It is possible that if the intelligence of these creatures were sufficiently superior to ours, they would choose to have little if any contact with us. On the face of it, there is no reason to believe that we might learn a great deal from them, especially if their physiology and psychology were substantially different from ours.”
Ironically, Brookings noted, those most likely to be “devastated” by the discovery of extraterrestrial life might not be the general public, but the scientific community – the very people looking for the aliens. Brookings explained its stance on this matter thus:

“It has been speculated that, of all groups, scientists and engineers might be the most devastated by the discovery of relatively superior creatures, since these professions are most clearly associated with the mastery of nature, rather than with the understanding and expression of man. Advanced understanding of nature might vitiate all our theories at the very least, if not also require a culture and perhaps a brain inaccessible to earth scientists.

“It is perhaps interesting to note that when asked what the consequences of the discovery of superior life would be, an audience of Saturday Review readership chose, for the most part, not to answer the question at all, in spite of their detailed answers to many other speculative questions.
“A possible but not completely satisfactory means for making the possibility ‘real’ for many people would be to confront them with present speculations about the I.Q. of the porpoise and to encourage them to expand on the implications of this situation.

“Such studies would include historical reactions to hoaxes, psychic manifestations, unidentified flying objects, etc. Hadley Cantril’s study, Invasion from Mars (Princeton University Press, 1940), would provide a useful if limited guide in this area. Fruitful understanding might be gained from a comparative study of factors affecting the responses of primitive societies to exposure to technologically advanced societies. Some thrived, some endured, and some died.”

It’s this final sentence that humankind had – and still has – the most to worry about. If extraterrestrials – friendly or hostile – one day show themselves to us, there is a very good chance that, as the Brookings report noted all those decades ago, from a psychological perspective we might not survive the encounter, at least not intact.
