Alien Abductees Over the Moon To Find a Close-Encounter Group

HASTINGS, England—Telling your family and friends that you've been abducted by aliens is hard. Even harder is revealing to them you may actually be part extraterrestrial.

A team of self-described alien investigators recently delivered that second bit of news to Adam Chatterton, 34 years old, a normal-looking Englishman. Using a technique known as "dowsing," the team says it identified residues on Mr. Chatterton suggesting he may have otherworldly origins.

Mr. Chatterton, who manages a riding stable, took the revelation in stride. "It wasn't that much of a shock," he said, adding that he suspected as much for some time.

The tests on Mr. Chatterton were arranged by Joanne Summerscales, founder of the Anomalous Mind Management, Abductee, Contactee, Helpline Project, or AMMACH. The British group provides counseling and support to people who have had the troubling experience of believing they have had contact with aliens.

Mr. Chatterton and around 40 others convened last month in this seaside town for AMMACH's annual conference, which aims to encourage close encounters with people who claim to have had close encounters. Admission was £45, or about $75, including a light lunch of quiche and salad.

This year's conference may come at a particularly important time. Ms. Summerscales and others at the meeting say our intergalactic neighbors may be close to revealing themselves to the public at large, an event that would have important implications in many areas.

"It changes everything about everything," Ms. Summerscales said. "So it's quite big."

Scientists say it is certainly possible that intelligent life exists somewhere in the universe, even probable depending on the number of Earth-like planets out there and a few other conditions. But the odds that aliens hit Earth out of the vast cosmic dartboard and had the technological capability to make the trip are extremely low, they say.

Such arguments carry little weight with many people. A Reuters Ipsos poll of 23,000 adults across the world in 2010 found that 20% not only believe aliens exist but say they even walk among us disguised as people.

In the three years since founding her group, Ms. Summerscales, who doesn't recall being abducted herself, says she has been in touch with around 1,500 people who say they have had contact with aliens. People like Mike Smith, who in a speech at the conference said that he had been contacted and abducted multiple times by otherworldly entities—perhaps aliens, perhaps creatures from another dimension.
"I don't want to be a nutter who's been abducted," said Mr. Smith, 64, a traveling musician, "but I am."
Many at the conference rejected the "nutter" label. Geoffrey Crockford, a retired occupational hygienist who is a member of the team that tested Mr. Chatterton, said his team's discoveries show aliens have visited and continue to visit the Earth.
The group spends much of its time hopscotching around Europe, identifying supposed alien burial and spacecraft landing sites. They use metal dowsing rods, which are held parallel and then swing into a crossed position, they say, in the presence of elements, such as iridium, supposedly left behind by extraterrestrials. Iridium is a rare element in the Earth's crust, but is often found in meteorites.
What do the aliens want? It is unclear, but they probably mean no harm, Mr. Crockford said at the conference. He suspects they abide by some sort of cosmic convention that forbids harming other intelligent life.
"The one thing we're worried about is they found out what we're doing, and that would blow their cover," Mr. Crockford said. "Then they might react to that."
A reporter asked him whether it was possible that aliens read The Wall Street Journal.
"Probably not," Mr. Crockford said.
Reports of alien abduction in the U.K. and elsewhere have become more frequent and complex since the 1960s, when an American couple's alleged encounter with a spacecraft in New Hampshire became one of the first widely publicized abduction stories.
"What you find is that they're all trying to outdo each other," said David Clarke, a journalism professor at Sheffield Hallam University who has studied reports of alien abduction but doesn't believe in them. "Not only do you have to be abducted, you've got to have had hybrid babies with them as well."
Take Simon Parkes, for example: a driving instructor and Labour Party town councilor in Whitby, who told Ms. Summerscales in a videotaped interview several years ago that he was taken by an alien he called the Cat Queen, who later bore him a child named Zarka. Also, his real mother is a green alien with eight fingers, he said.
Many discussions about alien abduction come down to two questions: Are they making it up? And if not, are they crazy? But Mr. Parkes said in an interview that he rarely hears such questions.
"The interesting thing is, I announced all this, and then I was elected," Mr. Parkes said. "I'm the man who fixes the streetlights when they're not working."
The U.K. Ministry of Defence was for a while an object of scrutiny for the alien obsessed. The military had a classified program starting in the 1950s that monitored UFO reports, but the task of responding to the public's inquiries became too onerous. The government closed it during budget cuts in 2009, at which point the entire program consisted of one person behind a desk.
"The Ministry of Defence has no expertise or role in respect of UFO/flying saucer matters or to the question of the existence or otherwise of extraterrestrial life-forms, about which it remains totally open-minded," the UFO desk officer wrote in one of many declassified documents now in the U.K. National Archives that appear to contain no evidence of alien contact with humans.
Colin Woodford, a retired British Airways ground-crew worker attending the conference, doubts the government released all its UFO files. "They're just putting out some froth," he said.
As the meeting ended, Nigel Hughes, a member of Mr. Crockford's team, announced a special attraction: "a pair of trousers from a well-documented U.F.O. encounter."
The pants belonged to a man who reported being dragged along the ground in Scotland by an alien spacecraft in 1979.
"We're very fortunate," Mr. Hughes said.
Soon, Mr. Crockford was waving his dowsing rods over the torn black pants, as a crowd looked on. The results were inconclusive.

3 UFO Sightings Recorded in Declassified NSA Document

The universe is full of mysteries that challenge our current knowledge. In "Beyond Science" Epoch Times collects stories about these strange phenomena to stimulate the imagination and open up previously undreamed of possibilities. Are they true? You decide.
The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) recorded several sightings of unidentified flying objects [UFOs] in a top secret report. In 1980, a civil action suit was brought against the NSA by a group called Citizens Against Unidentified Flying Objects Secrecy.
Since that time, the NSA has declassified many reports on UFOs.
Here’s a look at four of the incidents in one of the declassified documents. Information has been redacted, making it difficult at times to piece together the findings. The reports often conclude the objects could be propaganda balloons or satellites.

1. Radar Detects Multiple UFOs Same Time Daily

A portion of a declassified NSA report on UFOs. Read the full document here. (Screenshot/NSA.gov)

Multiple UFOs were detected on radar usually between the time of 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. traveling against the wind, according to the NSA report. The largest number observed at one time was eight, and they were estimated to be flying at a height of 50,000 feet. The objects were described as yellow or green and as drifting over the area (the location is not given).
Military electronics experts were sent to investigate, along with a civilian meteorologist and a civilian scientist.
It seems one person thought the UFOs could be sophisticated devices of some sort, though it is unclear who held this opinion or what specific kind of devices they could be. The report states: “Possibility that UFO’s some kind of sophisticated [redacted] device appears remote though this is what [redacted] suspects.”
“Possibly these are reflections of [word redacted] and/or [word redacted] propaganda balloons, depending on wind direction at UFO’s altitude.”
The report states that four reliable Americans spotted them and said they may be satellites or space debris. One of the observers had spent years professionally observing satellites. Though the sentence specifically describing this observer’s opinion is partially redacted or illegible, it seems to indicate he thought the object he saw was similar to a satellite: “He indicated this observation, made from [redacted] outside [redacted] was of [illegible] nature, a yellowish object on a steady course.”

2. 33 Yellow or Green UFOs Spotted

NSA UFO Report

As in the previous report, another report states that UFOs described as yellow or green seem to drift over an area (again unspecified). A total of 33 were sighted in the area.
The chances that the UFOs are “some kind of sophisticated [redacted] device appears remote,” the report states. “Unless amplifying [illegible] received, most plausible explanation of UFOs is that they are either [redacted] or [redacted] propaganda balloons.”

3. A Ball of Light Splits Into 3

NSA UFO Report

A portion of a declassified NSA report on UFOs. Read the full document here. (Screenshot/NSA.gov)

It is common for people who report seeing UFOs to describe multiple, smaller UFOs coming out of one large one.
In one of the NSA reports, it seems the original object disappeared, however, becoming three separate objects.
“[Redacted] saw an elongated ball of fire moving … [redacted] … high rate of speed. After covering some distance, it split into three balls of fire,” the heavily redacted report states.
Again propaganda balloons or satellites are posited as explanations.

The EU Is Building You A James Bond Style Personal Helicopter

Rush hour might just be the worst thing. The EU agrees which is why it's helping to fund a project to build an automated personal helicopter which would fly above the traffic removing precious hours stuck in traffic.
Called myCopter the proposed Personal Aerial Vehicle (PAV) would be a cross between a helicopter and a car letting a user simply take off and fly around without needed any of the pesky barriers in place at the moment like air traffic control.

The project involves universities from all over Europe including the University of Liverpool and looks at turning flying into a task about as complex as driving a car.
To do this the team in Liverpool is creating new automated technologies that would include features like obstacle avoidance, path planning and formation flying, essentially allowing you to sit back, enjoy the view and never have to worry about being stuck in traffic again.

Speaking on the myCopter website, the research team admit they have several large hurdles to overcome first.
"An effective human machine interface (HMI) and Training needs to be created, full or partial autonomous behaviour of a flying vehicle needs to be established (which reduces the risk to the pilot and enables the PAV to be flown by the average person), and finally the social and economical impact of a PAV and its ideal design for acceptance by society at large needs to be investigated."
In case you're thinking this will be relegated to the realms of science fiction, the EU has actually just paid a $4.7 million grant to the project in the hopes of creating not only a prototype but a fully functioning user interface which would let almost anyone fly it.
Presumably at some point there will be a hands-free version, if the EU's 'Project Brainflight' is anything to go by.

What Good Are UFOs?

By Tom Head

During a recent U.S. congressional hearing on the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), a conservative member of the House asked UC-Berkerley SETI director Dan Werthimer about UFOs in general, and the History Channel series Ancient Aliens in particular. Werthimer’s response was one for the books: “UFOs have nothing to do with extraterrestrials.”

There’s a great deal of content, here and elsewhere, about UFO visits. No point in hashing that out in much detail. But let’s suppose, as a matter of brute fact, that we were able to verify with a high degree of certainty that an alien spacecraft flew the skies over Earth, and all we knew for certain about it was that it was extraterrestrial in origin. What would that tell us?
Well, we can assume to begin with that if the craft serves a primarily scientific purpose, it would probably be an unmanned probe. As we have discovered ourselves, life support systems are not generally an efficient use of spacecraft resources. And if we sent a spacecraft to a world that we knew contained (semi-)intelligent life, we wouldn’t needlessly risk the lives of personnel by having them fly around in the flak-filed skies before we’d made contact with the general population. Even if the craft were invincible, it would be a horribly inconvenient trip, and—unless the visitors are tourists who want to spend a vacation on a foreign world—there would be no scientific reason to send them here.
We can also reasonably assume that the entity that sent the craft didn’t want to hide it. We’ve already discovered technology that would allow us in principle to make aircraft invisible, and we can assume that any alien civilization capable of traveling to Earth would be similarly familiar with nanomaterials. Remember those helicopter photos of an uncontacted tribe on the Peruvian border, and how unethical many observers found them to be? This would be (at best) the intergalactic equivalent. If we can see extraterrestrial probes, the civilization sending them is trolling us—and maybe being a little cruel about it.
In other words: if any UFOs really are manned alien spacecraft, I think they’re probably full of obnoxious space tourists who don’t have enough to do with their time.

Majestic 12 Follies Returns (skeptical)
Barry Greenwood, UFO Historical Revue, #3 Jan 1999
I was surprised to find in late 1998 that attempts were being made by several individuals, primarily a Dr. Robert Wood, an engineer, and his son Ryan, a marketing and sales specialist in the computer industry, to resurrect the MJ-12 controversy. They have claimed to have received new documents supporting the notion the U.S. government actually investigated alien spacecraft beginning in the 1940s, under the banner of "Majestic-12, supposedly a panel of eminent scientists and government officials.

This paper seeks to examine these theories and other relevant probabilities along with expert testimony as they relate to psychological warfare and propaganda operations.

Research Synopsis On The Majestic Documents
Timothy S. Cooper
In this synopsis, I argue the theory that FOIA documents in the public domain are the remnants of a high level UFO intelligence and psychological warfare program of the United States Government which began in 1946 and the Majestic documents reflect what might be a overt part of such a program.

Review of Kevin D. Randle's Case MJ-12
Stanton Friedman
The reality of Operation Majestic 12 (MAJIC 12 or MJ-12), and the highly classified documents associated with it, has been a disputed question in ufology for more than eighteen years. For the average person with an interest in conspiracies and UFOs, Randle's book would at first appear to be the definitive work on the subject. A much more careful review of this book, in conjunction with reading such other sources as References 1-5, leads one to a very different conclusion: namely that "Case MJ-12" is more a work of propaganda than of investigative journalism.

Statement Regarding the Authenticity of the MAJESTIC 12 Documents

The most recent winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, former President Jimmy Carter, has long been interested in the peaceful co-existence of humans on this planet. If historic records are any indication, however, it appears that the former President has long held a similar interest in peaceful relations with extraterrestrials who might be visiting this planet, since his sighting of a strange unidentified object in Leary, Georgia in 1969.

President Eisenhower Meets the Aliens?
William L. Moore, Gazette, Hollywood, California, March 29, 1989
The story about Eisenhower's February 1954 trip to Palm Springs for a winter holiday, and his subsequent late Saturday night disappearance, has fueled rumors that Eisenhower traveled to nearby Edwards Air Force Base to meet with aliens. One of the best recounting of this rumor was done by William Moore a prominent California researcher who traveled to the Eisenhower Library to do research and actually interviewed the wife of one of the key witnesses to the story.

The second strong indicator that Bush was not open to UFO disclosure came from the experience of John E.L. Tenney, the co-founder of M.A.I.N, or the Michigan Anomalous Information Network. His efforts to get campaigner George Bush to talk about UFOs met with the same failure that Peter Robbins had experienced.

President Gerald Ford and UFOs
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
Prior to becoming President Gerald Ford was a Representative representing Michigan in the U.S. Senate, and also Minority Leader in the Senate. In 1966 Michigan experienced hundreds of UFO sighting. The reports of weird dancing light produced quite a furor.

President Harry S. Truman and UFOs
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
President Harry Truman is the first President to have to deal with the UFO phenomena publicly. There may have been sightings and/or UFO crashes before Truman, but nothing that had to be dealt with publicly. More importantly, Truman was the first President who had to deal with the public relations problems that go along with the UFO phenomena.

President Jimmy Carter and UFO's
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
President Jimmy Carter has often been referred-to as the "UFO President" due to the fact that he publicly claimed to have had a UFO sighting prior to becoming president. Moreover, he was the only president on record to actually file a UFO sighting report related to his sighting. Thirdly, on at least one occasion while campaigning for president, Carter declared that, if elected, he would "make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and scientists."

President Jimmy Carter's Actual UFO Sighting Report
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
Many internet sites display a UFO sighting report related to President Carter's 1969 UFO sightings. The NICAP report, however, is only a retyped version of the original report which was filed with the International UFO Bureau in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Below you will find the original handwritten report made by the Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter in 1973, along with the letter written to him by Hayden Hewes, the Director of IUFOB at the time, asking for the report. This copy was found at the Carter presidential library in Atlanta.

President John F. Kennedy and the UFOs: Was JFK silenced for knowing too much?
Jim Marrs, 06/08/2000
President John F. Kennedy may have had more than the usual knowledge about UFOs, according to several credible sources.

President John F. Kennedy and UFO's

As with many other U.S. presidents, there was a report that Kennedy had sighted a UFO. The event occurred in 1963, while boating off Hyannisport on Cape Cod. The object was "disc-shaped, about 60 feet in diameter, with a grey top, and shiny bottom." It hovered above the water for 40 seconds, emitting a low pitched humming sound. Then it flew straight up in the air and was gone. Kennedy swore those present to keep the incident secret.

President Reagan saw UFO, often spoke of a world united because of alien invasion
UFO Universe, 1998
Supermarket tabloids, that strange breed of sensationalistic American journalism, have been talking for most of the decade about Ronald Reagan's fascination with things like astrology and space aliens. Little attention was paid to the matter ... after all, the stuff was printed in the tabloids and nobody sane is supposed to believe in them. Yet truth is becoming stranger than fiction in the case of Ronald Wilson Reagan and some of his more curious remarks.

President Richard Nixon and UFO's
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
Even though the Nixon Presidency was short and rocky, a number of UFO stories and related space developments did take place. Nixon, for example, was the President who was able to take credit for an achievement dreamed of and initiated by President Kennedy. He presided over the landing of the first men on the moon in July 1969. Nixon described the Apollo 11 mission as the "greatest week in the history of the world since Creation," a statement that brought criticism from his close friend Billy Graham.

President Ronald Reagan and UFOs
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
A question remains, however, as to how much of the UFO secret was given to Reagan the President. Reagan like the many Presidents before him had tens of thousands of issues being dealt with below him in the government. Only the most critical items were brought to the Oval office for his attention.

President's Talk UFOs
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
The President of the United States of America is considered by many to be the most powerful man in the world. If that very powerful President is in change of the UFO cover-up, then that relationship is the key relationship to study in determining what is going on. If the President is not the head of the UFO cover-up, cut out of the loop by some Machiavellian group bypassing the constitution, then that is the key story to investigate. In short, the President’s relationship to the UFO situation is the key to understanding what happened, and how to end the cover-up.

Ronald Reagan's legacy goes well beyond this world
Billy Cox, FloridayToday.com - 6/10/2004
Tons of newsprint and airtime dedicated to Ronald Reagan's legacy this week, but -- surprise -- not word one about curiosity over unidentified flying objects. It'll be the same way when Jimmy Carter dies.

Searching for the Truth: Media Control and the Presidents Interest in Ufology
Dennis Balthaser, Oct 18, 2001
When doing radio or TV interviews and lectures, I am frequently questioned about the cover-up of the Roswell Incident and other related topics. The general public has a hard time accepting the statements I make from time to time, that the news media is controlled to some degree by the government, and that the President of the United States is not totally informed about the UFO situation.

The Role of the Presidency in the Politics of Disclosure: Part III - The Case for and against Gore
Stephen Bassett, Paradigm Clock
The public is fairly fed up with ludicrously expensive, winning-is-everything politics. Gore has embraced both adjectives with a passion. As a result, his willingness to touch the UFO/ET problem on moral/ethical grounds, knowing it will damage him politically and hurt his party, is most certainly in doubt.

The Role of the President in the Politics of Disclosure - Part II: The case for and against George W. Bush
Stephen Bassett
Let’s get one thing straight right up front. The politics of UFOs, how the presence of extraterrestrial beings in our world, now, is going to affect you, your government, and every other person on the planet, is not only bipartisan, it’s transcendent.

The Role of the President in the Politics of Disclosure: Part I: The Decline of the Executive
Stephen Bassett
One of the most important political trends in the second half of the 20th Century is the weakening of the American presidency - important because of its role in the intricate, constitutionally structured checks and balance system mentioned in the first column in this series.

The following are some of the stories that look at what the president might have known about the subject of crashed saucers. These few examples I have chosen, are the result of attempts to track down rumored stories, and investigate them with interviews and material from the various presidential libraries.

Vice-President Dick Cheney and UFOs
Grant Cameron, Presidential UFO
Because of Dick Cheney's high White House positions in past Ford and Bush Sr. administrations, the appearance of Cheney's name on the George W. Bush Presidential ticket, led many ufologists to feel that Cheney might represent an attempt by the government to make a disclosure on UFOs.

White House Briefed on UFOs
Sarah McClendon, White House Correspondent, McClendon News Service, March 30, 1998
(This article is written by Sarah McClendon, the nation's longest-serving White House Correspondent, who passed away on 9 January 2003.) Unidentified Flying Objects, a term given for many years to unexplained sightings of craft in the skies over every state in the Union, are actual visitors from other worlds, believe a community of scientists and technicians employed by government.

UFO sleuth Richard Dolan visits Thunder Bay

Star gazers who are trying to gain a better grasp of the universe came out to hear an American UFO researcher speak at the Mind Vault in Thunder Bay on Sunday.
One of the 50 people in attendance was Thunder Bay Observatory operator Randy McAllister, who said his belief in UFOs and extraterrestrials evolved from his interest in astronomy.
"Our reasoning tells us that there's more going on up there than meets the eye and science is just finally catching up,” he said.

catching up with what's going on in the universe. (Nicole Ireland/CBC)

“And I could give you lots of examples, like the Kepler space telescope the last couple of years, [and] how many planets it's found. Science is starting to catch up to our understanding of the universe."
The man McAllister came to see — Richard Dolan — has been researching UFOs for 20 years.
Dolan said multiple military and intelligence sources have told him the US government has been actively studying UFOs for decades. He also pointed to several documents that have been declassified and predicted more secrets will be uncovered in the coming years.

UFO researcher Richard Dolan came to The Mind Vault in Thunder Bay, where about 50 people watched his presentation called "UFO's for Modern Thinkers." The presentation is part of a cross-Canada tour called the Modern Knowledge Tour. (Nicole Ireland/CBC)

"You know, the Wikileaks era is now upon us,” Dolan told the crowd.
“We're at the cusp of a massive transformation in certain fundamental structures of knowledge of our society."
Dolan noted that physics is starting to explain some UFO phenomena, including manipulating gravity.

NASA's real life Enterprise may take us to other star systems one day

Dr. Harold "Sonny" White is still working on a warp drive at NASA's Johnson Space Center. His work is still in the experimental stage but that doesn't mean he can't imagine what the real life Enterprise ship would look like according to his math. This is the starship that may take us where no human has gone before. And it has me screaming like a little Klingon girl.

Concept 3D artist Mark Rademaker told io9 that "he worked with White to create the updated model, which includes a sleek ship nestled at the center of two enormous rings, which create the warp bubble."

The updated model is the one you can see above, a variation of the original concept which, according to Dr. White, was rendered by Rademaker based on an idea by Matthew Jeffries, the guy who came with "the familiar Star Trek look." This is the original warp drive spaceship concept:

Dr. White—whose daily life is working in future propulsion solutions for interplanetary travel in the near future, like ion and plasma thrusters—developed new theoretical work that solved the problems of the Alcubierre Drive concept, a theory that allowed faster-than-light travel based on Einstein's field equations in general relativity, developed by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre.
A spaceship equipped with a warp drive would allow faster-than-light travel by bending the space around it, making distances shorter. At the local level, however, the spaceship wouldn't be moving faster than light. Therefore, warp drive travel doesn't violate the first Einstein commandment: Thou shall not travel faster than light.

Dr. White's work at the Advanced Propulsion Theme Lead for the NASA Engineering Directorate is science. And while his department only gets peanuts compared to NASA's budget (not to talk about the Pentagon's) I find his words comforting:
Perhaps a Star Trek experience within our lifetime is not such a remote possibility.
See, Dr. White and his colleagues aren't making a movie or coming up with 3D renders for the sake of it. They just don't just believe a real life warp drive is theoretically possible; they've already started the work to create one:
Working at NASA Eagleworks—a skunkworks operation deep at NASA's Johnson Space Center—Dr. White's team is trying to find proof of those loopholes. They have "initiated an interferometer test bed that will try to generate and detect a microscopic instance of a little warp bubble" using an instrument called the White-Juday Warp Field Interferometer.
It may sound like a small thing now, but the implications of the research huge. In his own words:
Although this is just a tiny instance of the phenomena, it will be existence proof for the idea of perturbing space time-a "Chicago pile" moment, as it were. Recall that December of 1942 saw the first demonstration of a controlled nuclear reaction that generated a whopping half watt. This existence proof was followed by the activation of a ~ four megawatt reactor in November of 1943. Existence proof for the practical application of a scientific idea can be a tipping point for technology development.
According to Dr. White, this is a roadmap that they need to follow to achieve that final objective of rapid interstellar travel.

If his work is successful, he says that we would be able to create an engine that will get us to Alpha Centauri "in two weeks as measured by clocks here on Earth." The time will be the same in the spaceship and on Earth, he claims, and there will not be "tidal forces inside the bubble, no undue issues, and the proper acceleration is zero. When you turn the field on, everybody doesn't go slamming against the bulkhead, which would be a very short and sad trip."Every time I read that paragraph I smile—and these renders just make my smile so wide it looks stupid.OK, Dr. White, you got our attention. Make it so.
