EXOCULTURE SHOCK

Do we really want to know what’s out there?

“New ‘life in space’ hope…” was the headline of a newspaper item the other day — about an astronomical survey which suggests that billions of habitable planets exist in our galaxy alone.
As I’ve suggested before, hope is not what we should be feeling about this prospect. Proof that there is even one extraterrestrial intelligence out there would be something to fear.
Many others have made similar arguments. Even in the scientific journal Nature there was an editorial six years ago which included the lines:
It is not obvious that all extraterrestrial civilizations will be benign — or that contact with even a benign one would not have serious repercussions for people here on Earth.
In Hollywood, too, the ET-themes seem to have become a lot darker in the past couple decades (e.g., Species, War of the Worlds, Transformers).

To me, the possibility of malign aliens should be the least of our worries. Any “bad” ET neighbor capable of detecting us and traveling here would have wiped us out long ago — or anyway would have done whatever it wanted, regardless of what we did or thought.
And it seems more likely that advanced aliens would be “good” ones. Our own experience here on Earth is that the more socially and technically advanced (and wealthy) societies tend to be more cooperative and benign — I think of Canadians, Norwegians, Swiss. In general, Western culture, as it has matured, has become much more peaceful and respectful of other, less advanced cultures. Contrast, say, America’s civilize-the-savages attitude of the Philippine war era a century ago with our present solicitude for remote Amazonian tribes. Or compare Vikings of 1000 AD to modern Swedes.
And if by ill chance aliens did come and turn us to ashes, arguably they’d be performing an act of mercy. An Earth society that had to confront, and then live with, the existence of a vastly superior alien species, would be in serious trouble.
There would be a basic demoralizing effect from the knowledge that everything we do and think is inferior and primitive – laughably so, like ants vs. humans.
But I suspect that the worst shock of all, from a visiting ET, would be an explanation of the universe for which we are totally unprepared.
As Nietzsche warned more than a century ago, we cannot psychologically keep up even with the implications of our own humble science. Whether we profess atheism or tome-thumping monotheism, we still tend to think of our lives and our civilizations as having some kind of meaning in the grand scheme of things. We pay lip service to the ETI possibility, but really we see ourselves as a lone, special species on its way to ruling the heavens, or destined for some kind of union with the entity who already rules. Other, smarter creatures come into this picture only as helpers (e.g., angels) of the highest beings, not as representatives of intermediate cultures that once were like ours.
Yet for some time quantum mechanics and cosmology have been indicating that the universe — in every direction, dimension and sub-universe — is a cold infinitude; and in this unfathomable context our existence effectively has no meaning or purpose. The ultimate secret is that there is no secret. The existential relativism of the currently-popular “Many Worlds Interpretation” (MWI) of quantum theory is so extreme, and so different from our intuitive view of things, that if we took it seriously, we’d be seriously messed up. Currently we can justify ignoring MWI’s implications in our general thinking because we’re unable to prove or disprove it. But an encounter with vastly smarter aliens would force us to confront and accept their model of reality — and if it is anything like MWI, it will be one in which the broad “meaning” and “purpose” we crave is entirely absent.
So maybe we should be grateful, for now, that SETI’s antennas deliver only the static of stars, and UFOs flit and swoop just out of science’s reach. If there are real aliens out there, their elusiveness may be the clearest indication that they mean us no harm.

A Saucer at Sedona

Some 120 miles north of Phoenix, Arizona, in the northern Verde Valley, is Sedona, a small, tranquil city of barely 10,000 people that has become legendary in New Age circles for its enigmatic energies, vortexes, Native American legends of supernatural entities roaming the surrounding countryside, and much more of a paranormal and strange nature. Sedona is also home to the famous Red Rocks, large and stunning formations of sandstone that glow an eerie and captivating red and orange when the sun both rises and sets, and which add even further to Sedona’s reputation as a place of deep mystery and wonder.
And then there are Sedona’s UFOs…
One incident that really stands out in the weird stakes occurred back in the summer of 1947, the details of which can be found in a formerly classified FBI file, now made available via the terms of the Freedom of Information Act.
According to the document of August 17, 1947 – titled Flying Disk, Sedona, Arizona – the witness (whose name has been excised from the file by FBI censors) was a former Second World War pilot who, after the hostilities came to an end in 1945, spent the next eighteen months working as a crop-duster in West Texas, before moving to Sedona, and securing employment in nearby Prescott.

It was while driving home late one weekday night – the man told the local sheriff’s office, who, in turn, contacted both the military and the FBI – that he caught sight of a large ball of blue light hanging low in the sky over one of the canyons of Sedona.
Naturally curious, the man brought his car to a halt at the side of the road, and watched, fascinated, as the glowing ball began to almost rhythmically sway, as if prodded or pushed by a gentle gust of wind. Fascination soon gave way to overpowering fear, however, when the ball quickly moved in his direction, possibly because, the man admitted to both an FBI special-agent from Phoenix and a representative of the Air Force, he had left his car’s headlights on and its engine running to ensure no-one slammed into the vehicle on the dark and lonely road.
“Mr. [Deleted] believes the lights of his vehicle attracted the ‘Flying Disc’ to his whereabouts,” recorded the FBI, in its three-page report on the affair. Within seconds, the strange object was directly over the car, at a height of no more than about fifty feet. It was at this point that the engine suddenly died, the headlights were extinguished – both by forces unknown – and the man found himself bathed in a light blue glow that, the FBI noted, “caused [the witness] to develop tingling in his fingers and lips.”

Likening the craft to a large “spinning-top,” the man told the authorities that as he gazed upwards, utterly awestruck, he suddenly developed the distinct thought that the craft was “flown by men from space who are watching us now there is an atom bomb,” and added to the interviewing agents that he believed “the space men are here to halt all future wars.”
Then, in an instant, the UFO was gone: it shot vertically in the sky to a height that the man – as an experienced pilot in the war and as a crop-duster – estimated to be around 600 or 700 feet, at which point “Mr. [Deleted] believes the light was turned off and [the] disk traveled in darkness in an unknown direction.”
This particular report is highly illuminating as countless people, all across the world, since the late 1940s, have claimed face to face contact with eerily human-like aliens from far-off planets who have expressed concerns about our growing atomic arsenals – just as the witness in this Sedona-based case of 1947 had suggested . The aliens in question are usually seen dressed in tight-fitting, one-piece-outfits, while sporting heads of lush, long and flowing blond hair.
Not only that: our cosmic visitors assure those of us who they deem worthy of contact that they are deeply concerned by our warlike ways. They wish us to disarm our nuclear arsenals, live in peace and harmony with one another, and elevate ourselves to whole new spiritual levels. The aliens in question have become known as the Space-Brothers; while those whose lives have been touched and forever changed by their encounters with such alleged extra-terrestrial entities are an elite body of people known as the Contactees.
If the testimony of the witnesses can be considered valid, then in the early years of contact the aliens took a decidedly alternative approach to their liaisons with the people of Earth; something which may explain why the military had such a hard time proving the reality of the UFO phenomenon.
Allegedly preferring face-to-face encounters with everyday members of society, the Space-Brothers arranged their clandestine meetings at such out-of-the-way locations as isolated hills, lonely mountains, and desert canyons, perhaps not at all unlike the one over which the UFO at Sedona in August 1947 was reportedly first seen hovering…

One Millionth Space Station Photo

ISS030-E-126655 (7 March, 2012) --- This photograph, taken by one of the Expedition 30 crew members aboard the International Space Station from approximately 240 miles above the southeastern Tasman Sea, is believed to be the one millionth still image recorded by space station crews. The view, from over a point centered at 46.56 degrees south latitude and 164.33 degrees east longitude, focuses on an area just west of the south end of South Island, New Zealand and was taken about 3:19 a.m. New Zealand time, March 7, 2012. Illumination and the relative motion of features in the overall series of photos suggest that the view is towards the south to southeast with the approaching dawn to the left and a strong band of Aurora Australis, from left to right. A Russian Soyuz and a Russian Progress vehicle are seen center and right in the foreground, respectively.

Second super sonic UFO flyby in 8 days, UFOs caught on video in the skies above Dallas

[Photo-Image: UFO filmed from plane above Birmingham, March 29, 2012]

Another ‘super sonic speed’ UFO was captured on video by a jet airliner passenger; the second too-fast-to-see unless the footage is slow motion UFO caught on film by an airline passenger in an 8 day span. On March 29, 2012, an airline passenger caught on film an “extremely fast moving object” above Birmingham, Alabama. On March 21st similar unidentified flying objects were filmed from a plane in the skies above Dallas. Both videos reminiscent of the UFO caught on video at Chile’s El Bosque Air Force Base during an airshow, November 5, 2010. A UFO whose speed was so fast no one saw the object until someone noticed something unusual in the footage; the UFO’s antics revealed in slow motion. Footage of the UFO was presented at the 21st 2012 International UFO Congress in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Triangle seen over corrections center in Cleburne, Texas

MUFON Case # 36765Ft. Worth/Cleburne, Texas
Thursday, March 24, 2012
Approximately 3:00 a.m.

I was walking outside in the parking lot at work, doing my rounds. This is at the Corrections Center where I work as a Corporal. As I was checking on an officer working a guard station outside, we were both looking up. It was a very nice night, no wind, around 72 temp, no clouds and no moon.

Then seen out of the black, still night, a triangle-shaped craft around 75 degrees up, appeared. Not moving fast at all. It was heading north towards Ft. Worth, coming from the south.

I figure it was around 500 to 1000 ft. away and around 4,000 to 6,000 ft. up. It had dim, rounded lights that could be seen very well and one light inside the other, starting at the tip and working their way back for a set of 6 lights.

As it moved north, I walked with it, moving through the parking lot. The parking lot lights will light up as you pass under them, so seen from above they are turning on, one by one.

The craft started to pick up speed, so I moved faster, then it moved faster, until I was running. About that time it just took off flat and level, as fast as a blink of the eye.

As I turned back to see, the other officer was right with me. We headed back to the guard station and there was a squad car stopped. The officer was out of his car asking if we were ok. He had seen us running through the parking lot, thinking we were chasing someone.

Yes, we were chasing something I said, and told him what we had seen. He was in disbelief at first, then frustration, like he had just lost the lotto winning ticket.

He said they had been getting calls about that all evening. After getting back inside and telling some other officers what we had seen, one officer said he heard people calling into dispatch.

Control was dispatching calls about suspicious activity in the skies at 3:00 AM.

To get a grasp of its size, do this: take your index finger and thumbs and place them together like a triangle shape and stretch out your arms. That craft was a little larger then that at around 4, to 6,000, ft. up.

My guess is comparing its size to the building sizes it was passing over to be around 150 to 200 ft. wide and 250 to 300 ft. long. No smaller then this, only larger.

It made no sounds and moved more like it was slipping through the sky, than using the sky to keep it up.

UFO Over Doomsday 2012 Mountain Pic de Bugarach (Video)

By Tom Rose
March 30, 2012 03:20 AM EDT
A UFO was caught on tape flying over the modern day "Noah's Ark," a mountain in France at the center of some Doomsday 2012 hysteria.
This unidentified flying object was filmed over the Pic de Bugarach, a craggy peak thousands say is already home to aliens. As December 21, 2012 approaches, true believers have started flocking to the site to get a leg up on the rest of civilization once the world ends.
Adherents to the theory believe they will get special dispensation from extra-terrestrial conquerors by being closer to alien headquarters.
But the invasion may have already begun.

The UFO in this video is a spinning, silver hover-craft type, which glides noiselessly over the mountain peaks. As it climbs higher into the sky, its shape and details become harder to define. But it's definitely not like any known aircraft.
So what is it?  Here's the video:

Rihanna Used To Be UFO Spotter. Sort Of.

Rihanna Used To Be UFO Spotter. Sort Of.

Day 146 of Rihanna's Battleship junket in London. She's now disclosed herself as an alien enthusiast.
Although she was somewhat forced into the pastime... The 24-year-old says her father Ronald Fenty used to have her sit on the doorstep of their home in Bridgetown, Barbados, and monitor the skies for signs of extra-terrestrial activity.
She said: "My dad used to make me sit outside on the steps all night long looking for UFOs flying by, and I had to do that for years. I didn't see any but I saw a falling star once and I was like, 'Yessss, Dad! Come and see, it just darted'."
Let's assume Ronald used to make his daughter sit outside all night so he could indulge in his documented crack habit.
Moving on to something more positive, Rihanna admits her acting debut has given her a taste for the big screen, but insists she won't be turning her back on music any time soon.
She said: "Doing movies and getting into acting is something that I always wanted to try and I never knew whether I would like it, hate it or love it but I just wanted to try it. It ended up being a really awesome experience. But I don't see why I can't do both acting and music."

Flying Saucer UFO Filmed Over Naples (Video)

March 29, 2012 01:15 AM EDT

A classic flying saucer UFO was caught on tape, from several angles, flying over the skies of Naples, Italy.

The unidentified flying object is framed against the Mediterranean sky as witnesses look up in wonder, and a hint of fear. The disk-shaped object hovers in place for a moment before moving out of camera range.

Whoever filmed the video was able to chase it to a different location and zoom in for a better closeup. But it still doesn't help to identify this as any known aircraft. Enhancing the image doesn't reveal any significant detail, other than that the UFO is black, rounded, and apparently spinning.

As daylight fades, the object begins to glide away. Comments on the video don't reveal anything other than the claim it's flying over Naples. The language spoken by the witnesses is hard to make out, but they clearly don't know what to make of what they are looking at.

So what is it?  Here's the video:

'Prometheus' to be tamed by PG-13 rating? (Video)

By Robbie Graham

Prometheus director Ridley Scott spoke to Empire magazine recently about what age rating his movie might receive and the big questions that drove him to revisit the Alien universe he helped create in 1979.

Scott said of Alien's ‘Space Jockey’ subplot:
"I always wondered when they did [Aliens] 2, 3 and 4 why they hadn't touched upon that, instead of evolving into some other fantastic story. They missed the biggest question of them all: who's the big guy [the Space Jockey]? And where were they going? And with what? Why that cargo? There's all kinds of questions."
Regarding the possible age rating for Prometheus, Scott hinted to Empire that the violence may have been toned-down enough to facilitate a PG-13 rating (booo!), but insisted that the movie will be every bit as powerful as the R-rated Alien and Aliens.

"The question is, do you go for the PG-13, [which] financially makes quite a difference, or do you go for what it should be, which is R? Essentially, it's kinda R... It's not just about the blood, it's about ideas that are very stressful. I'm not an idiot, but I'll do everything I can to get the most aggressive film I can."

I, for one, am disappointed (though not particularly surprised). “Kinda R” is not “R”. PG-13 may work for Harry Potter, but the horrors the Alien universe were never meant to be tamed. Still, even if it does wind-up a PG-13, if Scott’s final product can match the chilling intensity of its trailer, fans may yet find it in their hearts to forgive the old master.

Aztec UFO landing subject of new book

AZTEC - The Aztec UFO Symposium may be a thing of the past, but discussion continues about the purported 1948 flying saucer landing. The upcoming release of "The Aztec Incident: Recovery at Hart Canyon," by Scott and Suzanne Ramsey may spark renewed interest in the incident, and the authors claim the book will change history.
The book provides new evidence about the famous incident and incorporates significant background on the Four Corners region. It is the culmination of 25 years of research by the Ramseys, including reviews of more than 55,000 documents and interviews of eyewitnesses in 27 states.
The Ramseys affirm their research proves that a controlled landing by a craft not of this world did occur, and that the U.S. military rushed in to cloak evidence of the landing.
What exactly occurred at Hart Canyon, 12 miles northeast of Aztec, on March 25, 1948, has long been debated.
Skeptics say that Frank Scully, author of the 1950 book, "Behind the Flying Saucers," was the victim of a hoax perpetrated by several con men. In his book, Scully claimed that a UFO landed in Hart Canyon and 16 dead humanoid (but non-human) bodies were discovered at the crash site inside a 99-foot metal disk. The military reportedly secretly removed the craft and the bodies.
The debate about the veracity of this event has continued, to the point where it became the focus of the annual Aztec UFO symposium, which this year was discontinued.

Ramsey believes the book proves the reality of the incident, which, was probably less of a crash and more of a controlled landing by a UFO, possibly after it was shot at, he said.
"During our interviews of witnesses at the landing site, the accounts were consistent," Ramsey said. "Eyewitness reports are sometimes the worst. We had to be careful, as many of the witnesses were 19 years old at the time of the incident, and by the time I got to them, they were in their 80s. It was the consistency of certain details over the years that drew my attention."
One of these consistent details involved a hole in the portal of the craft, recalled by all witnesses, Ramsey said. Another detail was the presence of the small, child-like, non-human bodies.
According to Ramsey, the military secured the craft and bodies, spiriting them away to a secure laboratory and swearing the witnesses to secrecy.
"It was right after World War II and was the early period of the Cold War. Our military wasn't just good back then, it was excellent," he said. "The presence of UFOs was regarded as higher in secrecy than the H-bomb, and New Mexico was having a lot of problems with UFOs hovering over military sites."
The same craft possibly was seen buzzing over the Los Alamos lab just weeks before the Hart Canyon landing.
"It was a time in this country when our safety was first and foremost, and I think our government just wanted to protect us," Suzanne said. "It (the cover up) wasn't for the purpose of being secretive, it was to be protective."
Suzanne believes this book differs from previous publications as it focuses on hard facts and documented research.
"We are historians, and we are not making any wild assumptions, which has previously occurred with this incident," she said. "We never try to convince the reader. We're providing the facts, and the reader can make his or her own decisions. If the data can't be proven or corroborated, then we didn't put it in the book."
A major contributor to the book, Frank Thayer, is a journalism professor at New Mexico State University. He accompanied the Ramseys on some of their research trips.
Thayer believes this to be the best book yet written on the subject and predicts the impact of the book will be significant, possibly forever changing Aztec.
"The independent and coinciding stories of eyewitnesses was the one thing we didn't have before," Thayer said. "That's what was so impressive to me: these individuals were real, credible people who were separated by hundreds of miles, yet they all had coinciding stories, including about being sworn to secrecy by the military."
Thayer believes the U.S. government will never admit to what it knows about UFOs.
"The best thing they can do is to ignore it and keep it out of the press," he said.
"The Aztec Incident: Recovery at Hart Canyon" will be released April 16. A free preview of the first 26 pages is available at
www.theaztecincident.com.

Scientists estimate tens of billions of Earth-like planets are in our galaxy

| Mar 28, 2012

New data from the European Southern Observatory’s HARPS (High Accuracy Radial velocity Planet Searcher) planet-hunting telescope suggests there could be tens of billions of Earth-like planets in our galaxy.
Astronomers analyzing this new data estimate that approximately forty percent of red dwarf stars in the Milky Way galaxy may have Earth-sized planets orbiting them with the right conditions for life. Red dwarfs constitute nearly eighty percent of the stars in the galaxy, and, according to Wired.com, their pervasiveness means “that there are tens of billions of possible places to look for life beyond Earth, with at least 100 such planets located nearby.”
Artist's impression of sunset on Gliese 667 Cc. (Credit: ESO/L. Calçada)

During this recent survey of red dwarf stars, scientists discovered a planet in the Gliese 667 triple star system. This is the second planet discovered in that system, and has been named Gliese 667 Cc. The planet is situated near the center of the habitable zone, and, according to astronomers, it “almost certainly has the right conditions for the existence of liquid water on its surface.” Gliese 667 Cc is the second super-Earth planet located in the habitable zone of a red dwarf star discovered during this HARPS survey. The first was Gliese 581d, which was confirmed in 2009.

With more information coming in from ESO’s HARPS and NASA’s Kepler space telescope, and current data continuing to be analyzed by astronomers, incredible discoveries about our galaxy are sure to become more common. Each new discovery helps us learn more about our mysterious universe, and, perhaps, brings us closer to finding extraterrestrial life.

UFOs are ‘extraterrestrial probes’ according to university professor

By

Dr. James E. McDonald was a college professor and the senior physicist for the University of Arizona’s Institute of Atmospheric Physics in the 1950s and 60s. He was also intrigued by UFOs and actively investigated the phenomenon.
James E. McDonald (Credit: US Government)

On Friday, March 23, the Arizona Daily Star published multiple stories from their archives about McDonald and his UFO research. In an article from 1958, McDonald comments on how the scientific community at the time ignored UFO research. He suggested the main reason for this was “the lack of proper data and the ridicule that sometimes follows the man who sees an unidentified object.”

A 1966 article titled “UFOs are ‘Real,’ physicist asserts” highlights a presentation given by McDonald to “more than 200 U.S. faculty members and students” in which he stated that UFOs are most likely “extraterrestrial probes.” He based this conclusion on his ten years of studying unusual atmospheric phenomena, in addition to six months specifically investigating UFOs.
During this same presentation, McDonald voiced his disgust at the Air Force’s official investigation into UFOs–Project Blue Book. He referred to Blue Book as a “scientific scandal,” and even called into question the scientific competence of the investigators involved.
In another article from 1969, McDonald also criticized the Condon Report, which was another Air Force-funded UFO study.
The full articles about McDonald can be read on the Arizona Daily Star’s website.

UK politician claims his extraterrestrial mother took him on a UFO (Video)

| Mar 26, 2012

Councillor Simon Parkes (Credit: YouTube)

A councillor from Yorkshire, England claims his “real” mother is an extraterrestrial.

Simon Parkes, who was elected to Whitby Town Council in February as a Labour Party candidate, says he met a nine-foot-tall green extraterrestrial when he was only six months old who claimed to be his “real” mother. He alleges he has had more than one hundred extraterrestrial visitations during his lifetime. According to the Yorkshire Post, Parkes has been the “subject of ‘horrific’ alien operations, and had an implant put into his hand by the creatures.”
Parkes also claims that, at age 11, his extraterrestrial mother took him aboard a UFO.
His extraterrestrial beliefs were reportedly not an issue that was raised during Parkes’ campaign. According to the Northern Echo, Parkes stated, “It’s a personal matter and it doesn’t affect my work.”

Travis Walton Fire in the Sky 2011 International UFO Congress (Video)

This is the full presentation from Travis Walton's 2011 appearance at the International UFO Congress in Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Travis Walton claims that in 1975, while working as a logger in Arizona, he and several co-workers came across a UFO in the forest which shot a beam of light at Travis. Frightened, his friends fled the scene. When they returned Walton was gone. Walton recalled waking up on the side of the road; he thought only a few hours had past, but he had actually been missing for 5 days. He later recalled being on the craft and the strange creatures that were there with him.

Travis Walton is the subject of the Paramount Studios movie, Fire in the Sky, based on his book of the same name. His close encounter has become recognized as the best documented case of alien abduction ever recorded. Mr. Walton speaks to audiences and media around the world to share what it has been like living through the ordeal of the experience and its aftermath. He presents the evidence for the incident and takes wide ranging questions from the audience, which usually results in bringing out new perspectives and bits of information previously overlooked.

An Encounter of the Boomerang Kind

Back in 1996, I toyed with the idea of writing a book on the somewhat enigmatic ‘”Flying Triangle” aspect of Ufology; but, I got so tied up with my books A Covert Agenda (published in 1997) and The FBI Files (which surfaced in the following year) that I never actually got around to doing anything about it. But, had I done so, I would most certainly have included the following – which I prepared for the ‘”Triangle Book” in late ’96.
The case at issue is that of a good friend of mine named Tracie Austin-Peters, formerly of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England (and the host of Let’s Talk Paranormal) and now, like me, a resident of the United States. And with that said, here’s the strange tale of Tracie’s very own 1996 encounter. She began thus when I interviewed her:
“It was about 3 o’clock in the afternoon on May 14, 1996, and it was quite a clear and sunny day. I’d got about an hour and a half free before I had to be back at work and decided that, because it was so nice, I would drive up to a wood nearby with a book and read for a while.
“Well, I headed for the local shop and pulled up on the car park, as I was going to get a few items to take with me. But as I got out of the car I got an immediate urge to look up. It was just like something had told me to look up – although I didn’t hear a voice. It was more like an impulse. And I knew directly where to look, too. And as I looked up, I saw a really unusual shaped object that was shaped like a boomerang or a v-shape. It was silent, it was black; and as I stood watching it, I thought to myself: I need to get a grip on this! What am I looking at?”

Tracie continues: “I’m quite a logical person, and I wondered at first if it was a large bird of some kind, but it wasn’t. The wings were just stretched out and it wasn’t moving like a bird. It was sort of turning anti-clockwise. And it certainly wasn’t an aircraft or a hang-glider. I knew I had to grab someone to see if they could see it, too.
“There was a woman near me getting her child out of her car and I said to her: ‘Excuse me, I hope you don’t think I’m being silly, but can you see what I can see in the sky?’ She replied: ‘You mean that black thing?’ I said, ‘Yes! and we both stood and watched it. But I got a very strong feeling, like it was giving off a thought, saying: ‘Have a good look at me because what you are seeing is real.’”
At that point, something truly strange occurred: “I watched it and then it did the most bizarre thing. It shrunk itself into a black sphere but continued to move anti-clockwise. But the strange thing was that the lady who was with me didn’t see it change shape.
“I thought this was ridiculous and ran across the car park to grab someone else. He saw it, too, but didn’t know what it was. But as I watched, the object then transformed from a square back to its original shape and then an appendage came out of the middle, which made it look like an arrowhead.
“It then headed off in what I thought was the direction of the woods. So, I jumped in the car, headed off there, too. I scanned the sky but didn’t see it again unfortunately. Well, I was due to start work again about 4.30 p.m., so I went home and telephoned Irene Bott of the Staffordshire UFO Group and told her what had happened. Irene told me to write it all down and draw a picture of the object – which I did. I also phoned a local UFO group in my area, too, and they said they would look into it.

“Suddenly, at that point, I got this feeling again to look up in the sky and was amazed to see this same object flying directly over my house! It was so strange; I wasn’t frightened – just surprised and excited. And the whole thing took on such a magical atmosphere. And again, I got the feeling that the object wanted to be seen. I’m not too brilliant at heights, but it was much lower than your average aircraft. Again, it was moving in an anti-clockwise way and I watched it until it vanished.”
The story was not quite over, however, as Tracie demonstrates: ”Three days later, the UFO group phoned me back to say that they had had a call from a guy who didn’t want to leave his name but who lived about four miles from me. They told me that he said he’d seen three black boomerang-shaped objects flying over his house, and I just couldn’t believe it.”
To this day, Tracie says, the extraordinary events of 14 May 1996 remain firmly fixed in her mind and she is adamant that something truly out of this world took place.

Obama, Roswell, and 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' (Video's)

By Robbie Graham
Silver Screen Saucers

Ask President Obama the quickest way to fictionalize a real event and he'll tell you: brush it gleefully with Hollywood dust.

Earlier this week, while in Maljamar, New Mexico, President Obama dropped the R-bomb on reporters in a cheap effort to elicit some laughs. It worked better than ever, because in his next breath he paraphrased the 1951 UFO movie, The Day the Earth Stood Still, in which the enlightened alien, Klaatu, tells the people of Earth: “We have come to visit you in peace and with good will.”

The President then proceeded to... threaten to kill young children who ask him about Roswell??

You heard the man, "We're gonna keep our secrets here," whatever that means. Don't worry, Mr. President. Your comments may have turned a little sinister towards the end, but all the headlines will recall is your whimsical sci-fi movie soundbite... see!

City Action Destroys Thousands of Historic UFO Audio Recordings

By Ryan Dube

In July of 2011, the city of Calimesa, CA destroyed one of the largest single video and audio UFO collections in the world in a single afternoon. The destruction took place by a team of guys wearing anti-bacterial suits and face masks.
No, this isn’t a scene from some science fiction movie – this event really happened at a small house in Calimesa. Sherry, the woman that lived at the house, was found passed-away in the house on Tuesday. By Friday, the city had hired Ecology Control Industries (ECI) to clean out the house.
Apparently, the condition of the house created such a health hazard – Sherry had owned a number of cats – that the crew had to wear white anti-bacterial suits and face masks over their mouth and nose.
While this is something that you’d expect to see whenever a city needs to take care of a house that has become a health hazard in a community, the twist in this story is that stored in the garage was a lifetime collection of audio and video tapes and documents covering the subject of Ufology. The house was formerly owned by both Sherry and her former boyfriend – David Aaron.
If you don’t recognize the name – David Aaron was well known, particularly in the 1990s, as the owner of a massive collection of amateur video and interviews covering UFOs called the “UFO video clearinghouse.” He gave a talk for MUFON titled “UFO Videos From Around The World”, and in 1994 he was quoted in a Time Magazine article about Harvard psychiatrist John Mack (1).
The collection that was stored in the garage – directly in the path of the ECI trash removal crew – was David Aaron’s own collection, encompassing years of research, work and archiving. He has said that his collection that he started in 1986, included audio and video dated from 1947 up through 2005. Within hours, David Aaron’s collection would be lost forever, but not without a fight.
David Aaron Loses the UFO Audio-Video Clearinghouse Collection
In 2010, Don Ecker of Dark Matters Radio interviewed David Aaron. Don is also another fixture of the “old guard” of Ufology – the young researchers of the 60′s through the 80′s that are now quite a bit older, but no less interested in the subject of UFOs.
Prior to the interview, Don introduced David on his blog as follows:
“When it came to the UFO subject and television and radio if Dave did not have it in his stockpile…it wasn’t available anywhere! He was The One Stop Shop for everything UFO.”
This month, Dave has been sending out emails to all of his contacts throughout the UFO community, alerting them to his tragic loss.
“On a Monday in July 2011, I received a phone call from my former girlfriend stating that she was going to loose her home, this was my house. I moved to a much larger house, and would move items into my new home, as time permitted. We made arrangements to meet on Friday to remove all the VERY RARE UFO AUDIOTAPES out of the garage where they were stored, without any incident for many years. When I arrived at the house, men in white anti-bacterial suits covered the area. One of my neighbors ran up to me and told me that ‘Sherry’ my girlfriend was found dead on Tuesday. I was in a state of semi shock.”
At this point, David’s story turns dark, as he describes starting to videotape the scene as one of the ECI workers in a white anti-bacterial suit told him that he would go get his gun and shoot him if David didn’t leave.
David went straight to the Calimesa Police Department and reported the situation – begging them to save the thousands of rare UFO tapes that were being thrown into the trash.
The Calimesa police refused him to help – referring him to the City. Unfortunately, Dave’s hands were tied – City Hall was closed already, and would be closed for the weekend.
David returned to the home, ignoring the earlier threat, and started to take photos of the men at work removing furniture, boxes and trash from the house.

From the vantage point where David began taking his photos of the situation, you can see the ECI trash unit on the roadside, furniture and boxes piled outside the house, and a certain amount of trash loaded inside the large trailer.
The scene almost looks as though there is a sorting process taking place – with trash going into the trailer, furniture going in a pile, and then other assorted piles across the front lawn.
You almost have to wonder if some of those boxes included pieces of David’s collection. As the men disappeared back into the house, David ran to the trailer unit to capture a few shots of the pile inside of it.

David explained in his emails that the collection he lost included over 1,200 rare UFO radio program recordings, many of which you probably can’t find anywhere else in the world anymore, including:
(1) A 1947 interview of Walt Whitmore interviewing Mac Brazel about the Roswell event.
(2) A 1958 recording of Major Donald Keyhole on CBS Radio interviewed on the subject of UFOs for the Air Force. The recording included the point in the show when Air Force Officers inside the studio forced producers to turn off his microphone.
(3) A rare 1960 TV interview of Barney & Betty Hill on Louis Lomax KTTV.
(4) A collection of NICAP on-scene interviews and investigations on reel-to-reel audiotape, donated to David by Richard Hall of NICAP.
These examples are only the tip of the iceberg. Like or hate modern Ufology, anyone has to lament the loss of so much documented history.
All of my attempts to contact ECI for information on where the items removed from the house were taken were unsuccessful at the time of the publication of this article.

Follow-up Interview With David Aaron

I contacted David Aaron directly to obtain more details about this event. It is no secret that there’s no love lost between myself and many of the old-guard Ufologists out there.
The manner in which most jump to the assumption that the NSA, CIA or some other alphabet-soup agency is involved in a massive cover-up of UFO information is unsupported by evidence. In fact, in his email, David started to imply that somehow the CIA or NSA was involved in the cover-up of this particular story – rather than the more likely reason that most mainstream journalists just have no interest in Ufology.

However, given the extent of this loss – and the sheer volume of history in the form of audio and video that was lost in this incident, it is very difficult not to feel bad for David. He has lost his life’s work. Even worse, the field of Ufology has lost a virtual library of historical data that can never be recovered. That is a big loss for any investigator that’s truly interested in the truth.
Ryan: David, you listed a few prime examples of some things that were in the collection, are you able to estimate a rough total of how much content (audio/video/writings) there were in total?
David: Ryan, no email can tell you the entire story of the UFO Audio Video Clearing House. The letters from the State Department, the FBI, all destroyed as well. The exact content is only an approximation, there were around 1,400 UFO audiotapes, all the old NICAP newsletters going back to 1956, what members ordered, a computer list of where each UFO report or video or audiotape was located.
Ryan: I was a bit surprised to see you mentioned the NICAP investigations were included in the collection. Were you in charge of maintaining those interviews, and do they represent the entire NICAP archive of all of their investigations?
David: I was only a member of NICAP years ago, and the Late Richard Hall just loaned me the masters to put on audio cassette I mailed back the originals reel to reel NICAP TAPES OF WITNESSES back to him years ago. Mr. Hall was getting up in years, and wanted to make sure the NICAP audio files had a safe home for future generations.
David’s concern and paranoia regarding the whole scenario was that he had just talked to Sherry merely a day before the Coroner’s report says that she died. What had they talked about? Sherry had asked David to come and move the UFO collection out of the house because she couldn’t afford to keep the house anymore. One day later, she’s found dead.
My first call to the San Bernardino Coroner stated that Sherry Died of blunt force trauma, and that boxes fell on her head. Next, it was changed to a heart attack, and next it was changed to high blood pressure (Medication which she stopped taking 6 years ago after she changed her diet and stopped the salt intake.) When I asked for the Coroner’s report, they said it would take 8 months to get. I now have it, and it shows the cause of death as heart attack due to high blood pressure.
David concluded our brief interview by lamenting the loss of his collection, and how he was completely powerless to do anything to stop it.
“….then, when I was threatened to be shot, I had to take the photos. There is not much that I can prove, as you can see by the photos..everything related to my company was thrown in a dumpster and taken to hinterlands. I think they wanted the letters from the FBI and the State Department.
I was unable to locate whom purchased what, because all our sales books, computer floppy disks (Back ups) and all our records were also destroyed. Yes, a 69 year old man can cry after seeing so many years of history thrown in the trash, even though I had no power to stop them, and law enforcement could have cared less!”
While it isn’t much consolation, David stated that he does have most of the videotapes from his collection up on the Internet, but all of the thousands of rare audiotapes, and all of his records and documents are lost forever.
